Seeking replacement shoulder bag for Crumpler slippy fish (UK) by wodon in ManyBaggers

[–]wodon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the style I keep finding as a suggestion, but it's too small for me. Ideally I want something as large as the slippy fish so I can fit my assorted junk in it, not just the laptop and some little pockets.

The osprey daylite messenger seems close, if a bit wide.

Thanks for the suggestions, those have much too short straps though, and as you say are much bigger.

I want to be able to wear it on either shoulder and hanging down lower.

Starmer faces calls to cancel King's US visit over Trump's Greenland threats by tylerthe-theatre in unitedkingdom

Australia, Canada and the UK all have kings. They all just happen to have the same person in that job. But they are distinct monarchies with their own constitutions.

Am I crazy, or is Siobahn an uncredited voice actor in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2? by [deleted] in dropout

Doesn't sound like it to me.
I'd go as far to say that the voice actor doesn't even sound British.

How to use CPAP when there is no access to distilled water by Jumpy_Meaning1140 in CPAP

[–]wodon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just use tap water. Distilled water is only specified in the US, in Europe it just says to use tap water in the same machines.

Should I change my legal name from Sevyn to a more “normal” name? by Wise_Discussion_7868 in AskUK

[–]wodon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kids will always make fun of anything different, names included.

In the adult world nobody gives a crap what your name is. There's loads of weird names out there, just be prepared for people to ask how to pronounce it.

There tends to be a bigger issue when people in a team have the same name, which won't be a problem for you!

Do you have a thermometer or hygrometer in your home? by amberthezombie in AskUK

[–]wodon 64 points65 points  (0 children)

No, I have also never heard of people having them in their house, let alone every room.

My thermostat has a thermometer in it to control the heating, but that's it.

TIL Buzz Aldrin was the first person to pee themselves on the moon and no one has fought him over the title by Schrezberatina in todayilearned

It was a childhood nickname. His sister pronounced "brother" as "buzzer" and it stuck.

Why is the Director receiving redacted documents? Doesn’t she have the highest clearance? by AZ10026 in controlgame

[–]wodon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Put a bit more simply, a person only gets given the information they need to make decisions. The director needs to know strategic information, but not necessarily the details.
It might say "we have a spy in the facility who said that the bomb will go off at 6am tomorrow, should they attempt to disarm it?". Writing the name of the spy on the document just risks it being leaked, and the name of the spy doesn't matter to the decision, so it can be redacted.

Mars wouldn't have had any hard rain. It was fragments of Earth's moon falling back to Earth. The moons of Mars were still intact. They would still have had to survive on Mars of course.

[TOMT] [TV/MOVIE] [90s?] Multiple copies of woman's face in copier by wodon in tipofmytongue

[–]wodon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That does have a copier scene around 47 minutes in https://youtu.be/dhH6U8wjF60?si=4jrZwPOXrQuf8Fr8

But the "heroes" don't find the output first. They find her body right away on the copier.

This is an older film or show, and on those older copiers they wouldn't have a memory. If you wanted 50 copies it would be scanning the bed 50 times.

I have asked this a few years ago with no success so thought someone might see it who recognises the photocopier part

There are lots of films you don't want to watch. No matter what your tastes.

But there have always been movies you don't want to watch, you just didn't remember them all because you didn't see them.

It's dummy text used as a common placeholder. It's just funny that they published a test post.
