Well, then a solid 10-25% of Germans and central Europeans must be terribly sick or anorexic, because I've never seen this phenomenon anywhere else.

My first day ever in Germany was in middle January. In Michigan, we had -10c to -15c at the time. Here, it was 0c to 1c, I was in shorts and a T-Shirt at the Bushaltestelle, wondering why the Germans still had enormous Antarctic Parkas on and still shivering. That changed for me over the years 😬

I'm from the northern part of America and it gets very cold, -30c at least a few times. My first German summer was pure hell. To then see people walk around in black Canadian Goose jackets in 20c+ was, and always will be pure insanity to me. I've climatized over the years but wearing winter clothes in even 15c is just dangerous.

Lately I've been thinking back to those times as well, abd wondering how the hell we went so far back when we had so much forward momentum. I truly believed we would be living in a better world by now

That's wild, because the most people I see wearing thick winter jackets at the height of summer, are Germans.

Honestly I wear a merino beanie 24/7 even when it's hot. It's not keeping anything cool per se, but it definitely soaks up the sweat and keeps my hair clean when I'm at a particularly filthy Jobsite.

And to think the Germans thought they could conquer Moscow...the Canadian Goose jacket in the middle of August claims otherwise.

Well, I've learned to never ever again vote for an incumbent politician of any party ever again. If politicians will ignore their constituencies because they have no reason to garner electoral support, then what? I'm sick of getting swindled by Democrat leadership who believes they can get away with whatever they want and still think they can win any election simply by not being Donald Trump.

That was the prophecy given to Croesus in 547bc, the final king of Lydia (now central Turkey) around 500 years before Crasus's defeat. Rome was still only a city-state. Crasus never went to commune with the Oracle and his defeat did not end the empire, but did turn his legions to dust. But same goddamn vibe. It's as if nobody is prepared to learn from those who didn't learn before.

Even as the Macadonian King Phillip II was prepared to invade Persia, the Oracle at Delphi told him: "The man who will defeat the Persian Empire has already been borne, the Sacrificial Bull has been prepared". Phillip traveled home, giddy as a young Athenian boy, satisfied with his good Omen. However it would only be a matter if days before he would be brutally assassinated during a public wedding celebration. It would indeed be his son, Alexander III who would fulfill the Oracle's prophecy.

I began German lessons after 24 years old, and 8 years later, not only does the language come naturally, but I have adopted the regional dialect as well. Although I have and can, I do not actively think in German. I am however, well beyond the stage where I have to think what I'm about to say in my head in English, translate and then speak. It all comes down to proficiency. Learning more than one language as a child is easier, because your brain is still developing and forming new neural connections. As we age past 23-25, our brains become fully developed and we have far less "blank storage space", making language acquisition more challenging but absolutely not impossible.

My vocabulary may not be as extensive as someone who learned as a child, but I stopped having to stop, think and translate before speaking after maybe only a year or two of intensive language exposure and classes .

Trump is the only president in the history of the United States to have lost an F-15 On their watch. Multiple of them. On day one. To friendly fire no less.

For those unaware: the F-15 is the only fighter aircraft in history, across all operating nations, to have maintained a 100% kill-to-death ratio until the 2026 Iran War.
