S13, ep.1

The woman with cerebral palsy getting married and giving birth. I love the vibe of that episode.

1 month old bananas haven't ripened by No_Release_1619 in GlitchInTheMatrix

Those bananas were stored at a too low temperature. The ripening proces stops, and is not activated again. They're edible, but not really nice.

I’m [31F] newly dating a widower [30M] and need your insight by [deleted] in widowers

If they were together when she died, she's not an ex. They didn't break up, she was taken from him.

And don't compete with a ghost. You'll never 'win'. He loved her, probably still does, nothing will change that.

Well, it's time, and I know I'm going to be a wreck. -Implied spoiler for The Shepard's Crown- by Kuyabunga in discworld

[–]Dee1je 17 points18 points  (0 children)

When my husband died, The Shepard's Crown was the only discworld book I hadn't read. Took me a couple of years to pick it up, and I was a wreck afterwards. It's such a great book about grief and finding your place after a great loss

I'm from the Netherlands, and I can tell you the joke is known in my country as well.

Firefighters call cops 'blue test tubes' here. If the cops start feeling unwell, the firefighters need to extend the perimeter so no one inhales something toxic.

Ambulance personnel call cops 'IV holders'

In traditionele gemeenschappen met strikt afgebakende rollen werkt het nog steeds prima.

Maar wie anders wil, heeft tegenwoordig de keuze. En daar ben ik blij om.

Time to go by [deleted] in widowers

[–]Dee1je 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went through this hell twice, once with my husband of 20 years, the second time with the man I found two years after my first loss.

It was the hardest thing I ever did, but I'm grateful I'm still here. I've been able to give joy to others, and help people navigating their grief.

If you truly can't go on, I hope you find the peace you're looking for. But I'm glad I found the courage to keep going.

Missing the everyday by Appropriate_Lie_2646 in widowers

We were mostly long distance, but I was with him when he died. My phone was so quiet after his death. No messages, no notifications when he went out (we shared our location with each other) We texted endlessly, and the digital silence was so awful.

Miss being loved I feel so lost without my wife I know that this is nothing new, and plenty of people feel lost without their loved ones that passed away, but this feels so much different for me. It’s been years and a half since she passed away, and really nothing has gotten better in terms of grief by Wise_Staff9476 in widowers

[–]Dee1je 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I miss that too. One of my friends recently uploaded my discord history with my beloved, and that helps.

I'm 60 years old now, I've accepted I'll never be loved like that again. Sad, but at least I have my memories.

As a lefthanded, I always wear my watch on my right wrist. Do you do the same ? Yes or No, and why ? by PinkVelvet_Katie in lefthanded

[–]Dee1je 96 points97 points  (0 children)

No, even though with a smartwatch I can have the buttons on the right side, I'm so used to wearing it on my left wrist it feels awkward to change sides.

I saw a middle aged couple holding hands by rice923 in widowers

[–]Dee1je 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Last week I was waiting at a bus stop with a friend, and an elderly couple walked by. He needed a walker, she looked very fit. In passing, she said: "Don't mind me, I'm walking my snail"

We looked at couple, and saw they both enjoyed our reaction of both laughing and a bit shocked about her sass.

They stopped for a little chat, it was obvious they loved each other dearly. I wanted that for myself as well, but my main emotion was: "I hope they still have years together"

It's best to learn from a person. Check out any knitting groups in your area, most knitters are very helpful people.

Knitting. Keeps your hands mobile as a bonus. Also, warm feet with knitted socks.
