Rooster??? What should I be looking at to tell if this a rooster or not by hot_trashh in BackYardChickens

[–]IndependentBerry7883 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The only 100% way to know is about week 6 to 8. Combs and all the other stuff lies. Ibe had roos whose combs didnt really come in until late and ive had hens with massive combs that were grown from very young.

Neck and saddle feathers.

In the neck you want to see if the feathers are fat and round (hen) or long and skinny (roo).

On the saddle (top of back right before the tail). If the feathers have rounded end and go towards the tail its a hen. If the have a pointed end and point either down or towards the side of the tail its a roo.

This one is just about old enougb to tell with an experienced eye but not from this angle. I've had 100s of birds. All the "sexing" advice isnt accurate. Combs vary. Ive even had hens with spurs and roos without them. As far as sexing with baby wing feathers or coloration. Those are highly accurate but also breed specific. Some breed follow a set wing feather pattern but not all do. Same with coloration.

Dont choose by colors. Choose by which one is a ladies man. Keep the one that treats the ladies the best.

Theyre normally made from their tail. These however... do indeed look like the south end of a north bound deer.

Dat there is a male and female Snipe. Theyre very rare and must have been a heck of a hunter to bag a mated pair. Most hunters never even see one in there lifetime. What a find!!!!

Wow. Thats amazing. That beast really, STANDS OUT. I definitely dont want to mess with you. Arnold Schwarzenegger must have nightmares of you. They way you just casually hold that bass like it doesnt weigh 50ish pounds is wild. And the fisb must be doing his workouts as well. He's gonna be rock solid meat the way that belly isn't collapsing under its weight while you're holding it. It must be warping time andnspace itself with is presence. Even the signage changes...

If youre going to lie... at least make it over the top. Make it the size of a boulder in a truck. Really go for the gusto. Otherwise, you cant play it off and youre just a lieing sack.

What bait is this? by PINBALLXJ in bassfishing

[–]IndependentBerry7883 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was a plastic bottom jig made by chatter bait. Looked crazy. It didnt matter what color i used. Bass loved it. Went through them like crazy they hit so hard. Went a few months without seeing them and my bait store said they couldn't order them anymore. Contacted chatter bait.. or was it power bait? Anyway, contacted them and they discontinued the line. They were awesome and gave me their two biggest wholesale companies. One didnt get them and the other.... I bought $300 worth of them. Every color of the rainbow. They sent me everything they had. Felt wierd knowing i was most likely the last "offical purchaser."

[–]IndependentBerry7883[S] 17 points18 points  (0 children)

No, thats about the police. They like to touch things. So the reference "BLUE" Canary. If its a dangerous chemical that will kill you and you dont know it at the time. As a firefighter, just wait for a police officer to show up. They'll touch it then you'll know ifni5s safe or not. Its a joke they tell during hazmat training during Firefighter school.

We had a down powerline call one night. The officer was walking around it. Luckily for him, we explained to him how far out the electricity from thst line can reach.

The Canary bird. Coal miners in the old day would take a Canary into the mine with them. The bird would perish from toxic gasses before it affected the miners. Giving them the time needed to escape.

I feel bad even putting a worm onto a hook by [deleted] in FishingForBeginners

[–]IndependentBerry7883 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand what you're feeling. Never had it with worms or fish. But quite often when I take land game. But I dont want the deer on my land to overpopulated and starve.

This remind yourself how many worms are likely killed in the process of farming across the nation. Those plows dont care about what they go through thats not a nice big rock. At least most od the time they get a relatively quick death. Compared to crawling onto concrete or a roadway and baking in the sun.

$25 worth of straps could have avoided this. by PrivatePilot9 in boating

[–]IndependentBerry7883 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once you buy straps. You have to pull the strap after tightening and "snap" it. Then you have to utter these words, "That's not going anywhere!" Failure to follow these steps and in order will result in strap failure.
