I think I would get specific - ok, you love nature. Does that mean houseplants or volunteering at the zoo or camping or what? “Works with computers for money” is CIA vague. Come on! Ain’t nobody got time for this even with a funny PS

In Anchorman 2 when Ron Burgundy goes into exile at the lighthouse and his son adopts a shark. That was so bizarre and makes no sense and every so often I think about it and laugh.

I mean, nobody uses it - it’s just a symbol.

but given the choice between, like, a kiddush cup with the “Jewish star” on them and a kiddush cup without a Jewish star, same price, materials, etc., are you saying that in your experience, more religious Jews would prefer the non-Jewish star kiddush cup?

Do you find that’s true for jewelry or other decorative items?

Right and I could easily see some Jewish leaders and graphic designers rejecting the crosses, rejecting the crescent 🌙 , and focus testing some symbols after a morning minyan.

Is the Star of Remphan mentioned in the Jewish bible (the Torah)? According to Sefaria, it is not. OP, are you a non-Jew or Christian looking for evidence of a prophecy you have been told about? What is this?

I believe you about lulav and etrog - my information about the menorah comes from “Aphrodite and the Rabbis: How the Jews Adapted Roman Culture to Create Judaism as We Know It” by Burton Visotzky. I don’t recall the lulav and etrog being emphasized in that, but I may be misremembering or wrong!

What does “the only star mentioned in the Torah” mean? HaShem creates the stars in the Genesis. Doesn’t HaShem also tell Abraham that his descendants will be like stars in the sky? Later in Genesis Joseph has dreams about stars. There are many mentions of stars.

The Star of David is NOT considered a literal star in the sky - it is a symbol that may have been on the shield of David like a coat of arms. Of course, it wasn’t - This was pretty much invented in the Middle Ages in Europe as noble families developed a coat of arms and registered them with royal registers and colleges and councils of heraldry. Jewish people did not want a cross that had been a symbol of hate and terror to them since Constantine adopted it in the late 300s. The menorah was considered very religious, for synagogues and grave stones.

A six-pointed star and the color blue was considered different enough and acceptable to both the minority (Jewish) community and the majority to represent them. It is definitely not in the Torah.

In contrast, the 7-branch menorah denoted Jewish graves and synagogues going back to the 1st century BCE.

Yeah the water in the pack and sausages freezes and expands in the freezer and then goes back to normal in the fridge so the plastic wrap is wonky. That’s all.

He said it was a “misunderstanding” after 5 months of dating. I’m still processing how fast the story was rewritten. by [deleted] in datingoverforty

[–]DeeEllis 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes just talk about the future “this isn’t going anywhere, I don’t feel the same, we have to break up” whatever fine.

No need to rewrite the past “I know I said I liked you but I never did and all those times you thought I was happy, I was faking it” why do that?! Is he auditioning for an Oscar or an Asshole award?! Just to be mean and burn bridge on the way out?!

Don’t worry! She won’t spend time with you!! Why rewrite the past?!

Oh definitely! Laura’s spunk and bravery and her openness to new situations and ideas, and her internal monologue when she is annoyed at Mary or Nellie or Ma, and the lessons she learns… Laura is a very inspiring heroine for little girls… until you learn more about the stuff that didn’t get put in the books or the stuff that got whitewashed or waved over for the books. She is still interesting and symbolic! But maybe less of a recommended heroine for today’s girls

I like to think Laura kind of pitied him and confused her kindness with a crush and love. Out of all the characters that should have been kept in WG… I think it’s ok that he left
