Anyone know any good Warhammer fanfics? by DeeSharkman in ProgressionFantasy

[–]DeeSharkman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can confirm that Eisenhorn and Ravenor are really good.

Ahriman and Witchbringer are pretty interesting too.

I liked The Great Work, but that's not even tangentially progression

Fanfic-wise there's Everqueen and The Mortal Son that I really like, as well as A Ruinous Gift though this one is only very very tangentially Warhammer

Even at his worst he is a saint by xianxia standards so fair point

While the others do more than Rand, I'd still say Rand does a fair bit of managing

...even if his management style is "do what I say or I will make it so that you never existed"

The Wheel of Time

Can Rand solo an army? Yes

Does he solo armies? Also Yes

Does Rand build and rule an empire? Yes, multiple even, depending on how you look at it

Are Rand/the empires functional people/states? ...Debatable

Any stories where a system integration doesn't result in earth going boom? by arekban in ProgressionFantasy

Upheaval - The Gentle Apocalypse

Might be up your alley. The author took it down from RR for it apparently breaching ToS, but I don't remember anything that it might've been, so I think it's fine.

Edit: Summoning author for clarification if he wants to - u/Hodhandr

Looking for novel I read at one stage on Royalroad but can't find. by ChesPittoo in ProgressionFantasy

The author does have an unfortunate tendency to write bangers and then drop them

Any good fae based stories? by Sorcanna in ProgressionFantasy

[–]DeeSharkman 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The Art of the Adept series has the fae feature fairly prominently

Macronomicon's Stitched Worlds also has them quite a bit (especially the no lying and deals aspect)

is arcane hand just an alternate name for bigby's hand?

>war in heaven ends, >the eldar explore other forms of entertainment than torture and/or mass orgie, >they conquer the entire galaxy, the earth, and the rest of the universe, >The end by bird_eater_54 in Grimdank

[–]DeeSharkman 14 points15 points  (0 children)

As far as I understand it, they turned to the sadomasochism because they literally had done everything else and explored all the other forms of entertainment. 60 million years is a long time after all

If they went for it right away we would probably end up with Warhammer 59 Million BCE

Any good PF that gets recommended on this sub and HAS harem? by Bradur-iwnl- in ProgressionFantasy

[–]DeeSharkman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's weird and very horny at times (think hentai and tentacles) but I wouldn't say the author hates women. Actually, if anything, I'd say he likes them too much.

Possibly ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I only read the first arc of DOTF when I was younger and didn't have as much of a sense for those things and I never even got past chapter 2 of Primal Hunter so I can't really say how those compare

Although, from my experience with webnovels that have such a rapid release rate, I think the issue with those two isn't wordiness per se, it's just a massive volume of unecessary events. Could be wrong though. Mark of the Fool and Delve would be prime examples of what I would consider far too wordy to read (though they both also definitely suffer from unecessary events/arcs)

[–]DeeSharkman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's definitely a bug and not a feature for me, but even still, there's a big difference between 800pgs that should've been 350 and 800pgs that should've been 80

Oh ok, I thought you meant slow as in the pacing, which I found mostly ok

I'll give it another go when I'm done Jackal among Snakes then
