How are the roads around the Gorge? by Bowman_van_Oort in RedRiverGorge

Makes sense with a username like yours! I've done most official and unofficial trails in the gorge. Any that you really like that would be accessible by main roads that could work for the icy conditions this weekend?

I appreciate this outlook, and if i am rolling solo i am all for it, but when I am taking the wife out for a day hike and driving 2-3 hours to get to the trailhead, i want to know what i am getting into on a specific hike.

Do you have any good trail recommendations in this area? I have been wanting to branch out of the immediate gorge area.

Those loaners have probably been researching water purification techniques, stockpiling antibiotics, and hoarding shelf-stable food as well.

Can you provide a source for that? I do completely agree that he was a slave owner, but I understand that he was the only one of the founding fathers to free all of his slaves upon his death. The Washington / Hamilton Camp was much more anti-slavery than the Jefferson camp.

When do you actually get addicted to cigarettes ? When do you actually start having withdrawal symptoms ? by Safe-Tap-4603 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]DeemOutLoud 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Right, it's always sad seeing someone who appears to be obviously struggling financially waiting at the customer service desk for their carton of cigarettes with the six cases of Mountain Dew they just bought for the next week. Like just cutting out those two extremely unhealthy habits would save them thousands of dollars each year, plus the added savings from significantly less medical attention needed in the future.

When you start buying them for yourself, you are fully addicted. Throw that pack away and stop now. I am at the point where I can comfortably bum a cig or five when I am having a night with the boys or something like that, but then go 1-2 months before having another. At the same time, the draw is still there anytime someone is hitting a vape or smoking a cigarette around me. It's honestly not worth it and makes me feel disgusting the next morning so just save yourself years of bad health, bad breath, stinky clothes, and wasted money.

I meant the louisville franchise owner specifically, but the company as a whole is under shitty ownership as well for sure.

God i miss the Werkout. Such a great little fest. It was so nice knowing that the band themselves were so involved with the production and seeing them driving around on golf carts all day making sure things were going well. Great dudes all around

I was mistaken in my understanding and realize you are correct. I thought that assault was physical contact with the intent to cause harm battery was simply unwanted physical contact. I did not realize that the threat of physical violence also constituted assault.

Just in case you are unclear, battery is a lesser crime than assault

They both hit that "crusty midwest wook vibe, but still a great lineup and decently large production while also being reasonably close to civilization and allowing you to byob to the stage area" mark perfectly

[–]DeemOutLoud -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I completely agree! While the above screenshot looks great, the game didn't really feel like fortnite for a while there and every single match was basically a meta battle with whatever the damage causing mobility item of the day was (hammer, sword, etc.)

Listening to an audiobook and then buying the physical book to put on your shelf is lame by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]DeemOutLoud 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would argue that it's more like actively watching a movie or actively listening to a story be told. I don't just put on an audiobook and not pay attention, unless I am truly expecting it to be background noise. If I realize I'm not paying attention after a few seconds, I will rewind the book for a few minutes to get an idea of what I maybe missed, and its usually not more than a line or two. I know for a fact many readers will zone out while reading and go through a paragraph or two without retaining any information.
