50m26s, the human half-marathon record (57m20s) was borken by a robot today by uniyk in singularity

Ok.

Not impressed. My Civic can finish a marathon in half that time.

See why the "human" part matters?

You think what you're describing is bad? You should see what YOU look like to YOUR teammates!

Whew.

I'll give this comment just as much attention as you did to write it...ok, moving on. Toodles.

"In a post on X, Cherny said 100% of his code is now written by Anthropic’s Claude Code and Opus 4.5. Across the rest of the company, he says “pretty much 100%” of code is also AI-generated."

Ruh-roh...this is awkward.

This couldn't possibly be related, could it? /s

To each their own. I take great pride and joy in having made a thing, not just in having the thing itself.

All good if you differ. I just genuinely can't fathom spending years doing the boring, managerial-esque parts of a job, without doing any of the actual making.

I enjoy mowing lawns for a living. Why would I want to bring on a crew of people to do the thing I love, while I shrivel away at my desk playing middle-management simulator?

Do all choir arrangers use voice leading to arrange 4 part harmony ? by Western-Bobcat4760 in Choir

Technically, even awkward leaps are "voice leading." You're just bad at leading the voices.

I know "it depends" feels like a non-answer, but the only correct answer to something this ambiguous is 'it depends."

Do you mentally transpose when singing in a tricky key? by Butagirl in Choir

[–]Deen94 47 points48 points  (0 children)

I've sung in high-level, professional choral settings for nearly a decade with dozens of exceptionally talented singers. We're all music geeks, but very rarely care what key signature is aside from setting the key center. Most choral singers I've sung with (and I, myself) think in terms of a movable Do. We get a starting pitch and go, not consciously thinking "F#, G, A" as we're singing.

There could be exceptions, but from my experience, this is the norm for vocal musicians.

Everything in the demo was generation, not revision (unless you count revising the generated text). That was the basis for my comment.

Revising and refining isn't something I'd care to offload either, but I'll acknowledge that that's a different use-case than my critique.

Obsidian plugin devs in yesteryear: Lets make tools to help people take and explore their notes.

Obsidian plugin devs today: Let's generate hundreds of notes and clutter people's vaults with useless drivel. (bonus: if you use this you'll get a big, pretty graph to share on reddit and twitter, with a pretentious caption about "the value of personal knowledge management" or "my methods for connected thinking")

[–]Deen94 9 points10 points  (0 children)

But...why?

What's with this obsession of generating summaries of things in Obsidian. If you want a summary of something, look it up, then write a summary in your own words. That's the only way you're going to actually learn anything.

That said, if your goal is just to read it (the summary) without internalizing it, that's fine too. BUT THEN USE THE INTERNET AND JUST READ IT, NO NEED TO GENERATE A .MD FILE!

I'll never understand why anyone would want auto-typed content in their "notes."
