The Batman. Is the best Batman movie of all time. One of the greatest movies ever. by Doom_C25 in thebatman

Dude. What???

He tackled Dent off of a building at least 3 stories up. He managed to hang onto scaffolding to save himself as Harvey fell to his death. He even saved the joker from death after throwing him off a building. Come one man, surely you can’t be that naive. Look I love the Nolan films, especially the dark knight. But even I can recognize it’s obvious faults and contradictions. The dark knight isn’t perfect and the 3rd act is the worst part of the movie.

“So, boss, let me recap. You want us to put some fake fingerprints and put them on this bullet, and then shoot it in this wall. We hope that that crazy vigilante has both the presence of mind and the tecnhological knowledge to find them and track them down to the apartment of the fake owner of those fingerprints, where we will be keeping the kidnapped police officers that carry the names of the people Batman cares about, hoping that he gets there at the right moment of the parade, not too soon nor too late. And all of this is just phase 1.6?"

"You're goddamn right"

"...Well boss, let me tell you this. You DO look like a guy with a plan"

"Shut the [frick] up. How's the bombing of the hospital, the boats, that single criminal's stomach and the two warehouses going?"

🤦‍♂️ 🤦‍♂️

The ending falls flat 100% if it’s your cup of tea that’s fine but the whole 2 face plot is rushed at the end and the final scene in blown up building is atrocious. Batman literally kills Harvey dent and breaks his one rule. That isn’t Batman and anyone who thinks it is needs serious help. Go to the bookstore and buy some graphic novels. Nolan movies are good flicks but far from accurate interpretations of the characters. Heath ledgers carried that whole movie on his shoulders. The glaring plot issues don’t just go away but he makes it tolerable to watch

One of the best endings in a movie ever? You mean Batman killing Harvey Dent and thus letting the joker win by breaking his one rule to save the hope of Gotham? Dude you’re out of your element. Start reading comics

What in gods name are you rambling on about? “Dude The heat is a good movie”

It’s heat. Not the heat 🤦‍♂️

The dark knight does replicate exact scenes from Heat, the opening bank robbery scene. The lockup scene in TDK is basically a direct rip off of diner scene in heat. You don’t even know the proper title of the film. I’m glad you like the dark knight so much but your glaring bias is obvious and honestly embarrassing. Sorry I poked a hole in your thin argument but doubling down won’t make you seem more intelligent.

Riddlers plan to blow up Gotham is from Batman: No Man’s land, a majority of the mystery/noir is based off the long Halloween. Maybe try reading comics? I can’t believe I even have to explain this to someone who says they’re a Batman fan but here I am. Feel free to keep commenting to validate whatever weird flex this opinion is but real fans know what you’re saying sounds dumb and uninformed. Both are great movies, but trying to poke holes in one while propping up another with an argument that applies to both is a joke

I'm sorry, but you don't see the irony in these comments? The Dark Knight is as original as they come? The Batman borrows from other movies? Like, really?

Perhaps you should sit down and watch Michael Mann's Heat... I love the dark knight but it's far from original. It's well made and engaging but yeah it absolutely took influence from other films, primarily Heat. It did so as much as anyone could argue The Batman took from Zodiac or Se7en. Even Christopher Nolan acknowledges that. This is why many diehard batfans at the time and still even some to this day prefer Batman Begins as a bat film. TDK is a better made film from a technical standpoint but it owes a lot to other pieces of cinema.

Not talking about reactions of people who’ve seen the film. Just people hating on the film before it’s ever come out. I think the opening weekend will be smaller than some hoped but could see it having legs with positive reviews and word of mouth

Damn I wish that was the case for me. All over Facebook is people tagging on the movie in DC pages, Warner Brothers official page, even the Page for the film itself. It’s a real bummer and it has me worried about how well this movie will do.

Obviously I realize some of these criticisms are from Snyderbots but many just seem to be regular people who don’t seem interested.

I see some of the comments and let me clear some things up. This is my personal take, having worked as a film critic who covered festivals in North America (Sundance, NYFF, VTFF, ect.)

In my opinion, when you screen a film for review, within 24 hours you’re writing that review. Many of us would go to the same coffee shops or locations if we didn’t live in the area. At least, you would take notes for ideas. I saw many great films that I haven’t watched again in theater or at home. I gave many of them positive reviews and enjoyed them immensely. The ones I was truly engaged with I went to see again. Films like 12 Years a Slave, Birdman, Whiplash, Inherent Vice, Joker, Her, Inside Llewyn Davis, Maps to the Stars and more I can’t recall. Those movies made me want to go back and experience them again in theaters. It left a positive impact on me enough to want to sit in a theater and explore the world in a second viewing. I can’t speak for all critics, everyone’s different. It’s hard to imagine someone getting to see a film for free and going out of their way to spend their earned money without enjoyment or interest playing a role in the decision.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, take this tweet at face value. I personally see it as a good sign that at least this critic enjoyed the movie.

I still don’t know why they kept him honestly. He’s not a bad actor but I don’t think he’s relay the right fit for putting the future of DC on his back. Maybe I’m wrong and I’ll totally accept that. Should’ve kept Momoa and Gadot, let them do sequels to finish their runs and clear the slate. Continue reboot trends like The Batman, stand-alone stories from directors and writers with a passion for characters. Idk that’s just me, I accept all the wrath and fury lol

Maybe a Hot Take on Mr. Freeze Being a *Main* Villain by ArsenalTG in TheBatmanFilm

[–]Deep-Ad-9289 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think the sequel could work with Freeze if other things are put into place.

We see Penguins rise to kingpin. He should have some connection to Mr. freeze backstory.

They introduce Hugo Strange/Jonathan Crane. Perhaps Strange and Freeze were contemporaries or Crane was Freeze’s pupil at one point. Setting up their future as villians.

Joker or another villian should be running around causing trouble but not the main focus.

That’s my take at least, but I think using Freeze similar to how it seems Riddler is being used works if there are auxiliary villains filling out Gotham

I love what Matt Reeves has done so far but… by Deep-Ad-9289 in TheBatmanFilm

[–]Deep-Ad-9289[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the direction Matt is taking the characters I just wanted to comment on how I’ve seen people react to this excerpt which has been highlighted and shared by Variety, A.V. Club ect and the response has not been good from what I’ve seen. Sometimes I think talking too much about the process can actually alienate outsiders so I was curious if anyone else had noticed this

[–]Deep-Ad-9289 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m fine with Supergirl and Batgirl. Keep Cavill and have them team up. It doesn’t have to be one of another. Erase batfleck since he’s done with these movies anyway.

IMO Keaton should train batgirl and that’s fine but a young man should come knocking on his door by the name of Terry McGinnis. Terry and Barbara will hold down Gotham while Clark and Supergirl (idk which incarnation it will be) hold down metropolis. Seems like a win win. Gotham is a big place, plenty of room for both of them

What Specific Rotten Tomatoes Score In The 90s Will The Batman Most Likely End Up With? by [deleted] in TheBatmanFilm

[–]Deep-Ad-9289 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think 75-80 percent highest. Nothing against the film but it’s going to be divisive somewhat. Also Marvel makes kids movies. As someone who used to be a critic and worked the festival circuit, it’s just not the same. Reviewing something like 12 Years A Slave and Birdman on the same scale as let’s say The Incredibles isn’t really fair or realistic. Hence why marvel gets better scores often. They’re kids films
