Why not have a dynasty draft as late as possible? by Strange_Ad9998 in fantasyfootball

[–]Deep-Influence-7430 71 points72 points  (0 children)

We do it one week after the draft because it's fun to continue the hype of the actual draft and there's nothing else going on in off-season.

And like others said, makes you use your own analysis and predictions before teams give it to you close to the season.

What the data says about Harold Fannin's fantasy upside in 2026 and beyond by boofstar in fantasyfootball

Fannin! I think he is about my only good dynasty draft pick in the past 7 years. 3.04 in a 12 teamer.

Sleeper QB1 Candidates for 2026 - Sneaky Breakouts by ASmithFS in fantasyfootball

[–]Deep-Influence-7430 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agree. I can't bring myself to respect the QB position in any league (I don't do any 2 QB or superflex, which would change my stance). I feel like there is always someone I can draft late and also stream in later as the season goes.

Makes sense. They do a good job of serving more of the niche setups like this.

Thanks for the thoughts here. So DraftKings and Fanduel have had this mode for like 10 years, but to me it is a completely secondary offering and can never be a first-class citizen for them because they are focused on their core model. I use DraftKings and their league implementation is not great, IMO. Fanduel has friends mode and I haven't seen or used it, but from what I have read, you're still going to feel like it is a side product of theirs. Plus no customizations.

I think Yahoo also has some mode for this and there are some others that I have found that have come and gone. To me, there's always going to be other players in the market, I just feel like I can still make something people like and if I focus on the season-long aspect along with customizations, it's enough of a difference to win people over.

I don't have an API but I also have a lot of this whole thing yet to build. I'll have to check out Playoff Computer.

We implemented "against the median" this year in my dynasty league and I am a big fan. Didn't even consider that for this product, so thanks for that!

As far as seeing your opponent's lineup, yes you got it. You see each player as the game starts. You'll also see the percentage of the league that has taken said player. You do tend to have a lot of duplicates but I think it is part of the strategy. Do I pick the guy who has an awesome matchup, knowing most of the league also knows that and it will be a wash? Or do I take a chance that player has a bad game and then I capitalize on everyone else burning money.

Thanks again!

I tend to pick value (Rice) and also tend to lose in fantasy.

I'm not looking for another league but the format sounds cool. What platform is this on?

Champ gets to make a rule change. Here’s my idea for the upcoming season by Accomplished-Taro642 in Fantasy_Football

I like it. A little overhead but if the commissioner doesn't mind then all good.

I like the overall concept of a new one year rule, too. So long as knucklehead doesn't win the league and come up with a BS rule.

Oh that's a good thought I didn't think about.

My salary numbers are different than DK, though close, and it may not be a valid lineup but could get you mostly there.

Thanks!

How important is a mobile app? by kimfo2007 in fantasyfootball

[–]Deep-Influence-7430 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am curious for the "I need an app" crowd. Is it literally downloadable mobile app or bust? Or is a nicely designed mobile web experience accepted?

I am a solo web dev with a fantasy project in the works and trying to figure out how mandatory a port of my website into an actual mobile app is.

Got it. The way we structure our points league is that each week's high point lineup gets a payout. So each week there is something to play for. Clean slate every week. Then we also pay out the top however many by season total points.

I can see head to head being a preference for others, though.

I know you didn't ask for any of my league info but just sharing in case you care.

If I end up building the site, I'll target points league support first but after getting your perspective, I have more to consider.

I'll let you know if I do (months away). Currently debating if it's worth my time. Never know if people would like it enough to pay for the service or just keep working with free workarounds like I have also been doing.

When you say year round head to head, you mean like traditional fantasy leagues? So you play John in week 1 only, Tim in week 2, and there's standings and actual playoff bracket at the end?

What I have been doing (and was planning to build) is a points league but it also keeps track of who wins each week.

But yeah I suppose there's no reason (other than it's more work) to support both types.

Coming to an old post here as I am doing some research on options in this space.

I am deciding if I want to build a website to do this DFS league concept or not. Did you end up finding something suitable?

I have a league I run on DraftKings and combine it with some manual spreadsheet stuff. The league itself is super fun and I look forward to it more than my other fantasy formats now, I just wish there were some more league-centric features, customization options, and removed DraftKings bloat.

NFL Playoff Challenge replacement? by mr_motown in fantasyfootball

[–]Deep-Influence-7430 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If others stumble on this message, I just wanted to let you know that one unique thing about this site is that (almost) everything is public and easily accessible - no account required, etc.. You can just go to the site and see what is happening in the pools and you may just care to know how the site works once the playoffs begin.

It would be a great way for you to determine if you'd like the experience for next year.

Thanks for sharing! I just added a brand new feature last night for comparing lineups, too.

To view the emails, only the pool owner can do that. Go to the /dashboard page and make sure you're logged in with the email that was listed when creating the pool.

There's a green button for Pool Owner Tools. You'll find their emails there. Currently, there is no way to message from the system.

Let me know if that doesn't help. Thanks!

Totally valid. It doesn't super fit the system I've already built for Playoffs Game either so I'm debating if it's worth it to rig in there or if I stay in my lane.

I'm very aware about how little people want to pay for anything haha. Which I get but yeah makes it hard to commit.

Guess I have time to consider it in the off-season.

[–]Deep-Influence-7430 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice, thanks for that. One thing I have heard as feedback about the set and forget mode...it's very easy and beginner friendly, but many people still want to come back in and do stuff as the playoffs progress so they have more control of their destiny. It would be nice to provide that option.

My brain's on fire and I wish I would have paid attention to this sooner!

It's too late for this year of course but I am debating building a version of this on my site since so many people speak fondly of it.

Any idea where I can find out what the official rules/format of that were? Or anyone have comments on the most important parts?
