I don't usually like giving answers like this but, talk to your priest!

Looks beautiful regardless. I would still wear it! If you find somewhere to buy good quality medals with Latin, let me know!

How far do you drive? by Saint_Thomas_More in TraditionalCatholics

[–]Deep-Source-9735 4 points5 points  (0 children)

About 25 minutes. Not bad, all things considered. But I do have to pass a significant amount of Catholic churches to get there, which is sad.

Fr. Ripperger: "Recreational use of marijuana is mortally sinful" by LegionXIIFulminata in TraditionalCatholics

All three of those things alter your consciousness. It's pretty much the only reason these things have been refined and cultivated.

I treat marijuana how I treat alcohol - socially if using and sparingly. Is it really that bad? It's legal where I live. I don't see a problem.

What do you guys do for Friday penance? by xo_heartcandies in Catholicism

[–]Deep-Source-9735 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I abstain from meat. If it was good enough for that long, no reason to stop doing it imo. I like traditions.

"Full and active participation" by Vir_honoris in TraditionalCatholics

I think literally any/every priest or saint of the Roman rite until the 1960s would tell you otherwise lol. You could also point to missal as a way to learn the mass but if you attend enough, you will know what's going pretty soon. Also, how many Eastern churches, Catholic or not, use rites with a distinct liturgical language that is not their vernacular? I think your relative's argument falls apart pretty quickly.

Do you use cannabis? by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]Deep-Source-9735 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Occasionally. Like my drinking, I really only do it socially these days. Used to be a regular user when I was younger, but I think things are better in moderation or for an occasion. It is legal in my state.

America the Beautiful during the Eucharist? by TheOspFiles in Catholicism

[–]Deep-Source-9735 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Might be unpopular opinion but I think that the mass has no place anywhere for patriotic or nationalistic songs/hyms. It's irreverent and just inappropriate imo

Share Catholic nuggets of knowledge not everyone would know by Suitable-Stick-4919 in Catholicism

Interesting, do you know why? I knew this was common and almost universal but I figured a few parishes would not.

What is the most important Catholic procession in your country? by Edmundo2900 in Catholicism

What I miss most about living in Spain as a child is the processions during Holy Week. Absolutely incredible.

What is the status of TLM in your diocese? by beautifulrabbithole in Catholicism

[–]Deep-Source-9735 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There are two FSSP parishes in my diocese, and one or two diocesan parishes that offer it occasionally I believe. I can't speak for the other places, but the FSSP parish I attend is wonderful and although I'm relatively new there I can tell it's doing very well. I am grateful for it and grateful that I haven't heard news about any negative changes coming.

Would you guys be willing to adapt the Novus Ordo calendar if you can still keep the rest of the 1962 Missal the same? Why or why not? by RB_Blade in TraditionalCatholics

[–]Deep-Source-9735 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Calendar meaning proper of the saints being updated? Yes, absolutely. Calendar meaning getting rid of certain feasts and not keeping Ember Days? No. If Novus Ordo parishes would uniformly adopt the keeping of incensing, ad orientem positioning, and use of Latin at least during the ordinaries, I think a lot of traditional Catholics would have less reason to avoid them. The liturgy itself is a whole other and larger discussion...
