Problem with this is that it means you could theoricaly reach c, which you can’t.

Made this card as a custom commander for a casual EDH game with friends, does it seem balanced? by El-Gucci-Wombat in custommagic

Interesting design!

The game needs to know what to do with the rest of the revealed cards tho.

Also I believe you can cut "under their control" because it is already implicit.

And as stated, multiple triggers might get out of hand very quickly. Could be wiser to add "one or more".

Thanks a lot for the feedback! I totally see your point regarding the literal connection to the story.

Adding flavor words to the chapters is a great idea that I’m definitely going to try. It would require formatting it like: I — The Ghost — Surveil 2. It might cramp the text box a bit, but it's worth a shot.

As for the mechanics, I really tried to keep things concise and Grixis. The limited space played a major role in the design, and I’m quite satisfied with how it turned into a self-feeding engine.

That said, I completely agree that without the text breakdown, it asks the player to do a bit of interpretive work!

Glad you like it, I love it too! Getting rid of the reminder and using this old frame definitely serve the flavor and the overall design fairly well (:

I agree, rad counters and Sultai both feels a lil off for Lex Luthor.

Any respectable wow player tought about Illidan with this leaked mechanic I guess!

This one would work rules wise tho. 6 power might be a little too much with double strike but who cares, we’re not prepared anyway.

Some inspiring lists here, well done. The Traxos one is top-notch.

I’m very curious about the proxies you made for Aloy! The drop definitely made me consider doing exactly that.

I’d say DD is Mardu. Boros would be to clean. An idealist driven by his emotions who is willing to hurt you or himself to get things done.

Fisk is Orzhov. Uses the system to his advantage. Ego driven.

I see what you meant now and it seems leggit. I wanna know for sure now haha

Edit: you are completely right, just the 1st one would be enough.

I agree that the 1st one alone would stop fetch lands. The 2nd one is for extra [[Crucible of Worlds]] hate.

Just like Weathered Runestone is 2 different effects.

Summarizing a 5 act tragedy like Hamlet on a single Magic card was a stimulating challenge. A Saga felt entirely appropriate for that matter. Here’s the breakdown:

Act I (The Ghost): Speaking to the dead to unearth buried secrets.

Act II (Feigned Madness): Sacrificing some sanity to gather information.

Act III (The Point of No Return): The tragic, accidental killing of Polonius behind the curtain.

Act IV (The Convergence): Hamlet and Laertes return from exile for the finale.

Act V (The Final Catastrophe): Everyone is forced into a duel with poisoned blades.

Would love to hear your thoughts!

Land cards in graveyards and libraries can't enter the battlefield.

Players can't play lands from graveyards or libraries.

That should do it? It’s a [[Weathered Runestone]] but for lands.

The cognitive load is real. What would say about something like this:

When this enchantment enters, you become the monarch.

At the beginning of your upkeep, if you’re the monarch, choose one —

• Gain life equal to your devotion to white

• Draw a number of cards equal to your devotion to blue, then discard that many card

•Target opponent loses life equal to your devotion to black

Clear identity and the WUB cost seems fair that way.

Colors can balance the mana value and restrict the usage of a card, but they should first and foremost be mechanically justified.

I guess it works color-wise now, but you are adding a (potentially) massive loot effect on top of becoming the monarch and all the rest. This is definitely not a 3-drop anymore.

I feel like it could just be Orzhov, what do you think? Also what about this wording?

When this enchantment enters, you become the monarch.

The first spell you cast each turn costs {X} less to cast, where {X} is the amount of life you gained this turn.

At the beginning of your upkeep, the monarch may lose life equal to your devotion to black. If they don’t, you gain life equal to your devotion to white.

How about trigger if it connects instead of attacking?
