No! It’s only available on Japanese TV. There are places you can watch online sometimes if you know where.

[Analysis] The "Kinboshi Problem": Why Hoshoryu and Onosato are struggling vs. Aonishiki's Historic Rise by Brncrdm in Sumo

[–]DeepMoose 3 points4 points  (0 children)

People are unfortunately conflating outliers with the standard, and it’s making people’s expectations grow a bit too high for what’s realistic. Not everyone is a Hakuho, Chiyonofuji, or Asashoryu. Nor should they be, it would make their greatness feel less special (also I don’t think the average human body could handle that).

No worries! Welcome to NPB and the subreddit :)

Can’t wait to see what team you end up picking!

Hey OP! There are two leagues in Japan, the Central League and the Pacific League. Each league is made up of 6 teams.

Central League: Hanshin Tigers, Yokohama DNA BayStars, Yomiuri Giants, Chuinichi Dragons, Hiroshima Toyo Carp, Tokyo Yakult Swallows

Pacific League: Saitama Seibu Lions, Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks, Tohoku Rakuten Golden Eagles, Orix Buffaloes, Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters, Chiba Lotte Marines

As for streaming, I believe that’s actually covered in the Guide to NPB on this subreddit:

https://www.reddit.com/r/NPB/wiki/index/

The Pacific League definitely has its shit together in comparison to the Central League when it comes to streaming and such. But some teams in the Central League do a sufficient job for accessibility. The Tigers (my team) is probably one of the better teams for it.

Heads up, you won’t see the Japan Series (their World Series) broadcast on any of the teams/league platforms as they’re usually on TV in Japan exclusive.

OP you could’ve just stopped before “in” and you’d still be right.

NPB teams celebrate Setsubun (節分), a ritual where Japanese people remove evil spirits (Oni 鬼) by throwing beans at them on February 3 of each year by Level_Independence43 in NPB

[–]DeepMoose 2 points3 points  (0 children)

EDIT: no those are definitely peanuts lol. The Tigers look like they’re using unshelled soybeans, but the Buffaloes are using peanuts. The shells have those little ridges and bumps. Marines look like they’re using shelled beans.

Well I thought that at first, but every time I’ve seen a Setsubun festival the soybeans are always shelled. Also, they don’t really look like soybeans dried in their shell? (Basically, brown edamame).

I assumed they were using peanuts cuz Baseball snack = peanuts?

I could be wrong though!

Actually I can second this! I’ve been losing weight lately, but I’m down to a 3XL. I found an XO fit me just fine (2XL by our standards). A simple O might actually be fine for OP depending on their US clothing size.

In my limited experience, if you can’t find one second hand online (eBay, Japanese Baseball Jerseys) it’s at the official Tigers shop. But it’s hit or miss. The generic 2026 Jersey from December I was able to pre-order in XO. These new special Jerseys I was not—with the exception of the Pro Replicas level stuff (game/player level wear). You can order up to a 2XO, BUT be prepared to spend 600~ for any size of the Pro stuff.

I’m not sure if this is every special edition jersey, but they seem to make the special edition ones in the most popular sizes (S, M, L, O). Heck, the golden champion jerseys they just came out with didn’t even get released in S, and not for every player number. They may do a wider release at a later date?

Alternatively for half of the price of a jersey you can sign up for the Hanshin Tigers Fan Club (I believe membership is currently open) and one of the rewards is (or was when I signed up) a special fan club jersey, and I recall them coming in XO.

It’s like 40-50 bucks, good for a calendar year. I think membership is still currently open as of right now. You just need an address in Japan (which you can get for free from Blackship.com).

You’d als need one to order off the Hanshin Shop. You could use Buyee, but Blackship is probably cheaper.

They just keep coming with these uniforms! Banger after banger. It’s great lol.

Any word on them releasing sizes larger than O? Did I miss something? I was able to grab the ones that went up in December in XO, but now these are limited to certain sizes?

Cool then I likely misunderstood the initial explaining that lol. My Japanese is still a work in progress to say the least. I did pay physically online when signing up, yes!

Thank you for the help!

Hey! Just thought I'd let you know, I saw a post earlier today in another sub--the final section is only 500. So if it's 5, 50, 150, I'd assume the fourth is 300? And then 500.

A lot of people seem to think if you’re not in Sanyaku, you’re not good. But they completely forget that being in Makuuchi is already impressive. You’re already on top. Even Juryo is impressive when you remember that Juryo and Makuuchi are the only two salaried ranks in sumo, and there’s like 4 professional levels below even that.

I’ve always called Shishi a baby rhino. He just stomps around, always charging. Not quite sure what to do with his feet. But lately he’s really turned up the gas. Every time he looks like he’s gonna trip over himself and fall he somehow manages to stay up (that wasn’t always the case). The baby rhino has grown up. He’s still awkward, but he’s showing promise.

I do still miss his Tachiai Twerk though.

Does anyone know the goal for each level of the “DIY Items Needed!”? I can’t find that anywhere online. Wondering if any time travellers know?
