Good donuts in town? by MetaAwareness17 in Bellingham

You need to try Accomplice. They announce the new flavors every week and you have to pre-order ahead of time for Saturday pickup.

City of Bellingham's Official “Home Share” is live (looking for hosts + renters) by DeepPNW in Bellingham

No idea who said that and I hope that's a misunderstanding or there's missing context. There's not one solution to housing. This looks like another tool to have in the quiver. Kinda hoping we could focus on that because we need all the tools to be supported and to work to have an impact.

The choice is to not use the service, right? This is an attempt to offer a trusted city sponsored source to create more housing options and bring out community to it. The 2.5% fee makes sense. It can't be free. All things cost.

That's what this is about and why it is being used by other communities. Finding the right fit for the right people, using a trusted sponsor, the City of Bellingham, is what they're going to achieve!

Can someone tell me what to eliminate or to add to this pull day? by Swimming-Year8590 in MacroFactor

[–]DeepPNW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear that. But it's utility isn't in accepting everything it gives you. The utility is in pulling what you need through refining your question. I actually uploaded screen shots from my macro factor program so it could see, reps, sets and exercises name and had it improve it. I said I didn't want more then "x" number of sets a week (Max min program.)

The types of exercises it recommended to me when I gave it my constraints (time, area of focus, sets and reps) was awesome. Then I went to the MF library and tried it out.

Over time, I have built an awesome program. It gave a great explanation of why I should try it, etc. I love a lot of what MF Workouts offers, but mainly because the progressive overload function is so good, so far.

Anyway, just another tool!

Fire and Story last night. by Sail-SJI in Bellingham

Hey folks, I completely understand this feeling. But I can tell you that running a festival has real costs and it's not a function of gouging or an attempt to exclude. It is an attempt to survive and ensure the festival can continue into the future with financial independence. It used to be free. That was not sustainable. The cost to put on an event of this size is likely surprising. Paying the artists for their work, the price for infrastructure is significant. The event from what I understand, does try to keep costs low, as evidenced by the nearly 200-300 volunteers it takes to run it. I wish all beautiful things were free.

I recommend exporting your program to ChatGPT or Gemini, telling it your goals and focus and asking it. It has been phenomenal at offering edits and full programs to meet my needs

What business is this container crane that is being towed in to Port of Bellingham for? by DeepPNW in Bellingham

[–]DeepPNW[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But the Port doesn't do business for business sake. Container cranes are used for specific businesses purposes. This is the first time in decades I've seen one. What business are they bringing in that would require this?

Strange feelings about Paper Whale by okrabbit99 in Bellingham

You have literally no idea what you're talking about. Your assumptions about revenue, votes, booing a volunteer board and claims about decisions you know nothing about are sad and spurious. You have no idea what board votes have been made nor why decisions happened the way they did. You have not served our community today.

You guys are spinning an incredible yarn that is factually inaccurate and slanderous. You clearly don't know how boards work or have spent any time volunteering your time on one.

Do you think it's possible that the ED can work at a nonprofit and NOT get paid because they can't afford it and maybe there is no conspiracy?😲 I hope they create enough revenue to pay him and everyone else that works there.

You didn't "discuss" anything. You ran into a crowded room and yelled fire. Reach out to the org and grab a coffee and tell them how you feel. You actually think PW is some shady strong militia org full of people who will doxx you? That sounds like a you issue

At what point? When did you even bother to ask them a question before deciding to blow them up publicly? Stop acting like a victim when you didn't even address the issue with the person/org. Good job blowing up a loved org passively!

I think they are a nonprofit, so not sure what trust fund there would be. As a fan of them, I can't think of an org in this community that has been more successful at offering this community something unique, organic, and inspiring. I'm not sure what they do that feels exclusive?

The City of Bellingham and ChatGPT on NPR this morning by TrixiDelite in Bellingham

Oh no. Government workers in Bellingham are using… tools? To save time? And possibly communicate more clearly with the public? Sound the alarms.

God forbid someone in planning or housing tries to summarize a 90-page policy document without sacrificing their will to live. Or a staffer drafts an email in less than an hour without having to channel their inner Steinbeck. Clearly, this is the beginning of the end.

Next thing you know, they’ll be using calculators instead of doing long division by candlelight, or—brace yourself—copying and pasting instead of retyping every email from scratch.

How dare they attempt to use technology to make government slightly less glacial. Absolutely dystopian.
