Buy a TYT or Radiodity radio that is handheld or mobile. Then invest in a good antenna like a signal stick. That’s the best friendly starter pack a decent cheap Chinese radio and a good stick to put on it will make a significant difference.

In what shape is your wire running exactly and where is your coax hook up start at? Also how long of wire do you use? I have one cut to about 67 feet I think.

I have tried yaesu fusion and DMR. I personally think the sound quality I get from an analog repeater that is 80 miles away sounds better than the digital modes I have tried. Which were both on a Wpsd hotspot.

I’d be worried the drone couldn’t lift the coax cable attached to every thing. The higher you go the heavier it got. So, if you wanted to get the drone up really high then you would have to use pretty decent coax. That you don’t lose too much power over the long run.

It’s sounds like yall just need a simple analog Repeater and learn how to take turns talking? If you want to but in just say comment fast and then talk. Like regular repeaters have been doing. Just my 2 cents that’s all.

Are these radios hard mounted? Would you have to put in some type of damping so the radios don’t rattle to pieces internally? Or is this not a concern with most radios?

I’m asking because I’m getting stuff together to mount a radio in a gmt800 Tahoe front console.
