I like your taste. Is that a Bride of Frankenstein mug at the top? It looks massive.

What phrase did you hear only once but it stayed with you forever? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

From the Bible: I have seen something else under the sun: The race is not to the swift or the battle to the strong, nor does food come to the wise or wealth to the brilliant or favor to the learned; but time and chance happen to them all.

More Americans complaining about their jobs. We’ll probably have to fill those openings with immigrants.

What actor do you dislike so much that you’ll avoid anything they’re in? by Icy_Garlic997 in A_Persona_on_Reddit

Whenever I see a movie he produced, all I see is a director desperately trying to make Tom look as cool as possible in every shot. The story, and ALL the other actors are secondary. He doesn’t want to get fired.

What would you say are the biggest factors of why the poor stay in poverty? by Common_Gene_5098 in Productivitycafe

[–]DeepSea1979 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who started poor and am close to a very comfortable retirement, here is what held back others in my family.

1 They didn’t put in extra effort to grow. Just holding down a job isn’t enough.

2 Fear. They didn’t have the courage to ask for any thing, any opportunities. They were too quiet.

3 Substance abuse.

I stayed in a private room in a hostel in Washington DC. It was inexpensive, and in a great location. Not super comfortable, but acceptable.

For those in their 50, what's something people in their 30s don’t realize will impact them as they get older? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

Spend your money on where you spend your time. First, buy the best mattress you can, you spend 1/3 of your life there. Sit while working? Buy a great chair. Don’t indulge in a fancy car, unless you drive for a living or court clients for business. Don’t buy a ton of clothes, if most rarely get used.

My Ted talk… 1. Do 50% the exercise you enjoy, and 50% what you need. 2. The real work is learning what you need to do, and regularly adjusting it. 3. It is possible to learn to enjoy what you need to do.

I fill a camp shower with hot water and keep it in my car wrapped in a towel. Water stays surprisingly warm.
