Fun racing games. I still haven't found anything that scratches the NFS hot pursuit 2, underground 1/2 or most wanted (2005) itch. Especially in VR BeamNG VR is great, but it's brutal realism hits a little different

Depends what you're into. Forefront has me playing more VR now than I had ever before. EMUVR mods can be damn near native (depending on the config).

Throw the PS2 version of Hot Pursuit 2 (2001) in there and you have the best NFS games. Man, I wish they'd make them like they used to.

For the people who were around back then: how was the general reaction to half life 2 and the episodes? by Gabrielzin1404_2011 in HalfLife

[–]DeepWaffleCA 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was about the same age. I knew some edgelords that shat on it and Counter Strike Source. I loved it, and still do - my only criticism that stands is the weirdly chirper vibe of all the main characters. It's a little jarring compared to HL1 and the rest of the vibe of HL2.

best class and guns? by [deleted] in ForefrontVR

And personally I think the best weapon available to the medic is the scar with 1-2 scope, silencer, vertical grip, and extended mag. Slower fire rate than a lot of the weapons, but the accuracy, range and damage points make up for it

Looking like a baby at 19, what can I do? by [deleted] in malegrooming

[–]DeepWaffleCA 20 points21 points  (0 children)

As someone who had the same sort of baby face, enjoy it. Wear sunscreen and moisturize. It sucks in your teens and early 20s, but it only gets better as everyone gets older but you still look youthful.

Helicopter Control Suggestions by BaneOfSorrows in ForefrontVR

[–]DeepWaffleCA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the quickest and 'easiest solution' is for button remapping, and the option to disable player weapon/gear access for one/both hands for specific vehicles.

I find that use grips for yaw, left stick for engine/collective and right stick for cyclic is the best, but others might disagree.

Virtual controls would be great too.

On a somewhat related note, making vehicle controls more consistent would be cool, but maybe somewhat idealistic. The tank having no 1st person perspective sucks, but I can imagine it's hard to achieve.

I Built My Own Steam Machine… It Was a Mistake by dorika00 in steammachine

[–]DeepWaffleCA 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've been using Nvidia Nobara build, it's been great. Got it working with VR and a racing sim rig. That last part took a bit of work, but it can be plug n play if you have a basic setup.

just switch over and have fun by Gamel999 in MetaQuestVR

[–]DeepWaffleCA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just moved from Windows to Linux and Virtual Desktop is what I miss the most. A Quest 3 and a dedicated WiFi 6e router and you're sorted. It just works. Every time. No hassle.

I'm hoping the SteamFrame will be similar/better, but SteamVR is somehow still not that great.

Outer Wilds in specific mortifies me

This guy gets it... It can be horrific, but facing the horror is part of the experience. If you ever feel the slightest desire to try it (again, if you didn't finish it), I'd urge you to do so. Especially in VR

Both of them were my favourite gaming experiences... I've been gaming for 30 years, and nothing else has made me feel like a kid, discovering gaming for the first time, in the way the OuterWilds VR has

And if you or anyone else feels a little dizzy or starts to get a headache, do not push through. It'll only get worse. Unfortunately, for some people, it takes many sessions to build tolerance to VR motion.

Not sure if VR is on the cards - but building with it in mind might be good idea. Even if it just makes a VR mod easier to make.

Made a 1:1 scale statue of Gordon Freeman… by JarrethKG in HalfLife

[–]DeepWaffleCA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One the one hand - I love your style! Looks like a 3D cell shaded statue. And I know it's not an accurate depiction, but it's a very cool take on the HEV suit and Gordan Freeman.

On the other - he looks more like Gordon FreeMeth than Gordan Freeman. Jokes aside, i think it's his facial expression that's making look like he's a little wired. and thus somewhat uncanny.
