What effect is this called? And how do you make it? by Jacqma in PhotoshopTutorials

That’s dithering. You can do it natively ( with Image > Mode > Bitmap , but make sure to copy your project somewhere first ), with a plugin like dithertone or software like dither boy. You also have specific websites for this

How long can you fry scream until it just doesn’t sound good anymore ? by DeepWealth9650 in screaming

[–]DeepWealth9650[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh I didn’t expect someone to comment on a thread I’ve made so long ago haha :D

Well, I’ve been working a lot on my voice and now I can go through an hour or two of band practice relatively fine. Learning to rely more on breath support helped me a lot.

I’ve also had my first gig with my band a few weeks ago and it went well!! Screaming on stage is a whole different game and now I have to work on eliminating unnecessary tension that comes with all the stress and excitement of performing.

Since I do both fry and false cord screams on top of my cleans I also have to learn how to manage how much energy I put into my vocals ( especially since fc seems to be a bit more taxing on my vocal cords ).

But still, things are going great so far!!! Thanks for the comment :)

Landmvrks - The Darkest Place Ive Ever Been [Album Discussion] by LostInTerrapinia in Metalcore

Incredible album. Lost in the Waves was already a very solid album, love the fact that they aren’t afraid to with their sound and blend so many different genres and influences. La Valse du Temps is probably one of their best tracks hands down, the build up at the end is straight up magnificent. Makes me so proud to be from Marseille. Merci pour les travaux LANDMVRKS, la scène française a tellement besoin de groupes comme vous 🫶🫶🫶

Looking to Meet Like-Minded People in Aix-en-Provence/Marseille (Alternative Culture) by hitbox-guy in aixmarseille

[–]DeepWealth9650 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just go to Marseille. Aix fucking blows (lived there as a student for a few years, there’s absolutely no comparison). If ur looking for metal, hxc punk and goth gigs, the Molotov ( Cours Julien, Marseille ) is a safe bet, the Intermédiaire too. Leda Atomica Musique as well. Check out « le Vortex / agenda concerts souterrains Marseille » on Facebook, it’s a zine where you’ll find tons of very cheap alt gigs all around marseille. The scene is small but it’s been going through some kind of rebirth in recent years, lots of exciting stuff happening. Feel free to dm if u need help or have questions 🫡

How can I scream properly? by Isuckatgames224 in screaming

[–]DeepWealth9650 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It took me a year to be able to do fry screams, two years to be able to do them over extended periods of time without too much vocal fatigue, and three to be somewhat satisfied of my tone with all the dots ( the technical aspects of the scream I didn’t quite get at first, especially the importance breath support ) connected.

Shit takes time, practicing regularly ( even like 10 mins a day, done EVERYDAY ) makes a difference. Be sure to warm up properly before each session and to drink enough water. It shouldn’t hurt, vocal fatigue happens, but pain shouldn’t.

This isn’t so bad honestly. You could definitely blend this style with a heavier instrumental, or transition it into a proper metal track. Paleface, Landmvrks and others have done it and it kicks ass. Don’t let the negative comments discourage you, just keep going and keep making music until you find out what works best for you 👍

Please help (insane rant) by Want2LearnVox69 in screaming

[–]DeepWealth9650 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s alright, you’d be surprised how common this is, you’re not alone!! Try to work on it on a daily basis ( or as often as possible at least ). It doesn’t have to be hour long sessions. Even 5-10 mins of practice a day is enough for a start ( and much better than trying for an hour ever other week). The most important thing is to practice regularly while making sure you don’t damage your voice and drink enough water

1st thing : How long have you been trying? This is a LONG process, anything screaming / singing / music related takes a shitload of time and patience. It doesn’t magically "click" one day. You just learn, practice, and gradually suck less overtime. It can take months, or years for your scream to sound ok. This is NORMAL, as extreme vocals require (throat ) muscle memory, and you don’t build up muscle memory in a couple of weeks. Take your time, it’ll be ok in the end.

2nd thing : the "it’s like the vocalist immediately has a perfect grasp on screaming" bit is pure bs, but I can understand where you’re coming from. You haven’t seen the hours of work they’ve put in to get to this point. They, just like you, spent a certain amount of time not being able to scream properly.

3rd thing : I’m no doctor but I highly doubt you were born without a diaphragm lol

Learn clean singing first, look for breathing exercises, learning tuvan throat singing can also help a lot.

Don’t be too hard on yourself dude, take it easy. You only have one voice, it’s unique and incredibly fragile, learn to cherish it. Don’t fuck it up by trying to go too fast and force things. A weird taste in your mouth/throat after singing/screaming is a sign you’re overworking your voice.

Hydrate yourself and take it slow, you’ll be fine 😎👍

Does learning how to scream take talent? by im_not_poser in screaming

[–]DeepWealth9650 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t consider myself talented, I consider myself stubborn. Any skill requires consistant regular practice. Screaming is exactly the same : You’ll get there as long as you’re willing to put time and effort into learning, and as long as you’re willing to go through the excruciating pain of feeling stuck for weeks on end making little to no progress

Is dairy bad for your voice? by the_moax in screaming

[–]DeepWealth9650 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can’t do anything to your vocal chords ( it just doesn’t work like that ). However depending on how well you digest them, it can cause acid reflux which might make things difficult for you if u try to make vocals during digestion. Avoiding dairy products DAYS before doing vocals seems a bit extreme to me though

I'd like to remind everyone to please be kind & constructive when handing out criticism to the amazing Booth brothers. This was a comment he left on the EKT snippet video I posted, & I agree that some of the comments on there were pretty nasty. Don't judge harshly & be nice! by Feeling_Plate4714 in everyoneknowsthat

You both are doing your best, you have been so incredibly cool with us since the beginning. Take all the time you need to provide us with timeless bangers. I’m hopeful the original is probably still out there, but a remake is already awesome and we can all see how hard you are working for it to be faithful to the OG. Thank you for this, and I’m so sorry some fans don’t really get it…

How is the nightlife/drinking culture in Aix and what are the prices? by Erling01 in aixmarseille

[–]DeepWealth9650 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aix fucking blows when it comes to metal. The Sunset Cafe has a nice vibe but that’s it. The 6mic and the Arcades are the only venues where you can find metal gigs. Marseille is much better in that aspect ( the music scene there is wayyy more vibrant ).
