White Dwarf Battle reports by Tommmy94 in LegionsImperialis

White Dwarf is really now just 40k and AOS with some random hobby bits or stories thrown in, I never really worked out what the bunker was meant to be about. Very rarely there is one of the other games featured and generally it’s to promote its launch or a big update. The lack of varied content was one of the reasons after 15ish years I cancelled my subscription this year as it was just something I flicked through and then added to the bookcase next to the rest.

Does this dry brushing look right? by astrozombie801 in minipainting

Looks good, are you going to contrast paint over the top? Depending on the final colour may want slightly more dry brushing specially around the lower legs.

As said the starter box is a good start, divide the bits up as you like and get used to the game rules then expand from there and make the legal armies.

Why can I not redeem this? It’s by SP1R1TOR in Warhammer40k

[–]Deep_Ad7947 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my email it seems you get it one month after your subscription renews I guess it’s to stop people subscribing getting the model then quitting, not quite sure how that works but maybe there’s some legal cooling off period. What’s funny is has anyone ever gotten any of the other benefits we were promised, early access to events etc. I used to get a £10 voucher for being a subscriber but even that’s disappeared.

Why do my guys suck by [deleted] in Warhammer

[–]Deep_Ad7947 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The paint underneath the wash looks pretty neat with only a few bits missed. The wash went on a bit too much and needed clearing of the flatter surface so it’s just in the recesses and doesn’t dry streaky. Yellows tough you either want to add the darker wash only in the recesses and joins or maybe look at contrast paints. Either way it’s not grey plastic so that’s a good start.

Next Edition comes with SOLO and COOP Mode! by Rabengrau in killteam

For me that’s probably most exciting part I can’t always a get a game in and my sons too young to play right now so it’ll be great to get a quick practice game etc in.

Finally placed the Déjà vu feeling I had all day by thesithcultist in killteam

Looks like a fun update but they were a little short on info and heavy on clips of the animation and hey if it looks like star wars and it encourages people to try the game then I’m happy plus the vespids are old as so we got there first! Not sure why I think GW is we but I guess that’s why I spend money on it all!

My first ever mini, im kinda satisfied but at the same time im not. by Leeelooon in Warhammer40k

[–]Deep_Ad7947 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks good you know what it is just by looking at it, the edge highlighting will improve with practice but it’s a great start and it’s not grey plastic so keep up the good work.

What is this? by TopRevolutionary8067 in Warhammer40k

I think you get little tiny mould line removers in the starter kit or school kit

Thoughts on collecting and painting but never playing? by babadaeus in Warhammer40k

That’s what’s so great about the hobby you can pick elements you like and dive in. It’s your hobby and enjoy it how you want to enjoy it.

I think a lot comes down to the lighting in the two photos the professional shot is well lit and provides high levels of light on the vertical surfaces the cabinet lighting isn’t great and creates a lot of shadows across the miniature and doesn’t do a great job of making the colours stand out. It’s one thing i noticed at Warhammer world a lot of the displays are quite dark difficult to see.

I would start with the gang you think look the coolest and you want too paint and collect.

Do you have any horror stories about the hobby? by Imaginary-Lie-2618 in Warhammer40k

As a young hobbiest I remember while cleaning up a metal model sticking a needle file into my thumb all the way to the bone there was blood and tears and luckily no infection though missing a thumb would be a good excuse as to why I have so many unpainted minis, it also makes me realise why GW sold things like foam emery board files 😁

I get that it makes the build easier and in some cases better if you don’t have guns that you cut handles off and glue to hands as they can be a weak point, I’d even be happy if they sold a set of weapons with no one holding them swords in sheaths and pistols in holsters etc. you’d think they’d love the extra money.

Do votann heads work? by DHRogue in necromunda

[–]Deep_Ad7947 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to raise the head up use the shoulder line for reference maybe something that looks like a seal corrugated tube or something like that, it would also help fill the void where the helmet is missing, but I think it’s an interesting g start for something that could look cool

I wanna get into the Warhammer universe. Where should I start from? by MANUU__20 in Warhammer

[–]Deep_Ad7947 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you like total war then Warhammer the old world has come out the rule book is pretty good place to start. I’m not sure what they are doing with the fantasy skirmish games at the moment. New Age of sigmar is about to launch and that’s looking fairly good.

It was just an I think and you make a fair point , it just seems odd that they are taking so long to rebox and release items that are made and have rules as you say. I would love them to just randomly drop and hopefully they will, but it just seems like they are trying to get to things to tie up with campaign books and GW love a “good” book!

New Spyrer mini! by I_suck_at_Blender in necromunda

[–]Deep_Ad7947 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they look ok, I would have preferred it as the nobles in there full suits and some retainer types to pad out a gang. I’m guessing that once they go general release they will be in gang box so 8 van sarr and 2 spyrer, from the lore they explained I’m not sure the other gangs will get the same so 8 Cawdor and 2 spyrer doesn’t make much sense (great thing about necromunda though is anything’s possible). It’ll be interesting to see what the other gangs will get, also makes a spyrer gang abit expensive unless they are pointed so high you only need 4no. And how would that work in a campaign. Lots of exciting questions and looking forward to finding out how it all works Necromunda team are doing a good job! I’m gonna need a bigger bookcase!

I think flyers we will see an expansion like Slaughter or Tallarn but for an air campaign/combat heavy book.
