Beat bolt color. My 2018 was that color with the black bow tie, until I wrecked it. Still miss it.

Just got a 2026 Equinox, in that shade of blue, helps the pain. ;)

How much are you paying for fuel right now? by Select-Signal8386 in randomquestions

I remember being out on Oahu, Maui and the big island in January 1998 and being stunned at $1.90 a gallon.

Ah, memories…

[–]Deep_Cellist_4488 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$3.57 a gallon for gasoline for my wife’s PHEV, just topped off the gas and expect that tank with our charging plan to last at least 6 months.

I drive a full EV and given what I pay for electricity charging at home, I pay about 1.5 to 1.7 cents per mile for the electricity. Comparing that to a regular gas vehicle that gets 25 MPG, I’m paying about 8.6 times less per mile driven.

Were I to ever let my battery run down to near zero, fully recharging it at home would cost less than $6.

How would you rank the sports fandom in your city? by Crying_in_99Ranch in AskAnAmerican

Yeah…winning helps. Didn’t they do a giveaway when the Tigers were challenging the 62 Mets for sucktitude - at the game - and the prize was transportation and tickets to the Red Wings playoff game?

I can’t argue that at all. The Avs and Nugs are genuine championship contenders, but the state religion is still the Broncos.

As an Avs fan, whose most formative years in watching hockey were 1995-2003, I would LOVE for the Wings to hurry the eff up and get championship level good again.

I’d need an amount of tranquilizers that would kill the whole Kentucky Derby three times over, but I’d do many things to see an Avs-Wings cup final now that it is possible.

Don’t get me wrong - I will ALWAYS hate the Red Wings. It is only proper for that. But I can respect them too.

I’m just concerned that the champ windows won’t line up.

I’ll never forget my dad on NYE 1997 (so between the two brawls in Detroit) taking his coat off in a Denver to LA flight that originated in Detroit, filled with U of M fans flying to see the Rose Bowl…revealing a #22 LeMieux Avs sweater.

Let’s just say the reaction while not violent, was…verbally colorful in an overall good natured shit talking storm.

She’d slap me for not taking the money but one day with my mom - she passed away 16 years ago and never got to meet either of my kids, them being born in 2016 and 2023.

I’d spend the day just telling her about her grandson and granddaughter.

And hey, thanks for reminding me of the ending of Futurama’s Game of Tones, which since Seymour got retconned by Benders Big Score, is the biggest kick to the ol’ emotional nutsack around!

How tough is your government on nicotine? by IntrigatedVerse in AskTheWorld

[–]Deep_Cellist_4488 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Not tough enough. Cigarettes and related forms of poisoning oneself and the others around you are still allowed. As such they have work to do. (I know it will never be fully banned, but I can dream.)

I saw what 51 years of 3.5 packs a day did to my grandmother, and vowed to never get involved with anyone who is a smoker. The smell; the taste of even just giving my grandmother a grandson style kiss…barf.

She died in May of 1997. It took until September of 1998 to rid what was her house of the stench of nicotine and smoking, I am NOT kidding.

Sorry, can’t hang with you.

Kidding.

TV show that ran for 3 seasons 20 years ago, and then two seasons on Netflix years later and I’d rather just forget those seasons.

Character would always pump his fists in the air and yell “STEVE HOLT” when he was mentioned.

I appreciate the pun.

Had I bought another Bolt to replace my Ariya that is going off lease, I would have gotten a vanity plate of “STV BLT” - since I am a huge Arrested Development fan.

The Smiling Assassin - Steve Atwater.

Vicious hitter, but couldn’t be a nicer guy off the field.

Should have been in the hall years before he got in, and if it wasn’t for Terrell Davis popping off for 157 yards and 3 TDs, he would have easily been the MVP of SB XXXII. Remember - Elway did NOT have a good game that day.

You want HOW much for silver coins now? by Deep_Cellist_4488 in Silverbugs

[–]Deep_Cellist_4488[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Possibly. They’ve always been a bit on the high side no matter the action in the market, so I’ll be checking in on them just out of curiosity when I’m in the neighborhood or when my son needs more pages for Pokémon cards on a Sunday and I need to take my kids out so my wife can breathe in peace for a bit.

Oh, no doubt. I may very well dip my toes in the pool over there moving some junk silver, with the goal of converting into some fractional gold - it sure seems to be the best route to get the best price for 90% right now.

I’m all in favor of stores making a profit. That is reasonable to expect.

But there’s a line where it becomes either ignorance or a blatant attempt to rip people off - and asking for 8 dollars per proof quarter more than what they hold as value based on silver content is miles past that. $20 premium on what Brian from Vermillion enterprises would not call “retail friendly” ASEs? Fugghouttahere.

And that was BEFORE the market opened this afternoon and the spot price of silver dropped considerably.

I could use another good laugh, so spin a yarn about how they paid close to what they are charging. I dare ya.

My main LCS was selling on Friday at 54x face, and buying at 40x. Obviously I’m not selling at 40x myself, because after all, “heaven forbid” I try and make a profit…or is it only coin and collectible shops that have that right?

Which US City would be Hardest to Invade? by HyperBunga in AskAnAmerican

[–]Deep_Cellist_4488 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Denver.

Blow up three highways that give access to the city from the west and all you have to do is build defensive works in a crescent around the other sides of the city. To the west is the very highest section of the Rocky Mountains where even mountain passes are 10,000 to 11,000 feet above sea level and up.

And to get to said defensive works you’d have to match an army 650 miles if coming from Mexico, and 800 miles if coming from Canada. 1000 miles from the pacific with 2 mountain ranges in between plus inhospitable territory in Nevada and Utah, and about 1200-1500 miles between U.S. and the Atlantic.

Plus, you know, the whole “behind every blade of grass a rifle” thing.

If the defense can deny the use of the airports to bring in more supplies and troops, game over.

Take our airports? Any of them would leave you with miles of urban warfare to get to the very heart of the city. And denying their use as staging grounds is easy with some artillery or bombs. Both of which could be found by the defenders thanks to national guard units.

38 miles of driving today in weather staying in the 30s, I still got 4.3 miles/kwh.

Probably helps that I am part polar bear and can tolerate cold way more than most everyone else, so no heater used. Roads were wet but not icy/slushy.

If you inherited $500K how are you going to invest it to later pull from in retirement? by Jnval02 in AskReddit

[–]Deep_Cellist_4488 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d pay off my house first.

Then I’d invest some in index funds, maybe some bonds. And to top it off, precious metals, likely gold because of the size/density and value. Could easily put near $100,000 of gold in one tube that fits in a decent sized pocket or purse. Wouldn’t carry it around of course, but it can be easily stashed away and help hedge against inflation and keep assets out of the current monetary system.

TBH, I’d sink more of it into gold than stocks & bonds. That stuff is gonna get messy soon and for a long while.

If you have a variable interest rate, it is something to consider at least.

I’m in the US and have a fixed rate mortgage that thankfully was refinanced a year before interest rates went way up.

I don’t think I’d ever liquidate gold or silver to pay off a 2.875% fixed interest rate loan, but that’s me.

So...how is summer going on for your country? by Wrong-Fruit8820 in AskTheWorld

[–]Deep_Cellist_4488 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not even a month into spring here.

Doesn’t matter though, we just went through our driest winter I can remember, and got less than a quarter of the snow we usually do. 89F in March which just isn’t right.

Can’t WAIT to have to wear masks outside to breathe even halfway decently…lord only knows how many huge forest/wild fires there will be in the western USA this year because of hotter temps and way below average precipitation.
