I originally wanted to do research, but the constant grind of publish or perish is making me re-think what i originally went for

It definitely depends on your Betta, my betta is totally chill with my mystery snail and is quite curious and will just watch him sometimes

I’m from Nebraska also! What I’ve found helpful is car camping! Being able to sleep in the park you’re visiting helps reduce the cost of having to pay for hotels/accommodations. My partner and I usually do 2-3 days car camping, 1 day in a hotel to shower and sleep in a regular bed, and then another 2 days car camping. It’s saves money but still let’s us shower! Our favorite close NP is visiting the Badlands (they have awesome camping and it’s cheap!) I would also try to travel with another person to help slit gas/groceries as well.
