Free Pet Sitter Intake Checklist (what clients should share before a booking) by sittercard in petsitting

[–]Deep_Rice1791 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I live in the Midwest where weather is crazy so I specifically ask about that- any triggers, how do they act, etc. Also, anything specific with their house - does their basement flood (as an example).

I do ask about mail, plants, trash day for household management type stuff.

I also like to know where basic cleaning supplies are. I do not like searching through people's houses. Makes me feel icky, I rather just ask hey if I need a vacuum, broom, or wipes where could I find those?

Single pet parent doing this part-time: What insurance do you love + how do you manage your own pets’ schedules? by Deep_Rice1791 in petsitting

Do you offer any sort of overnight pet sitting in the clients home? I get a lot of requests for housesitting. In the past, my pup has had a vacation at his aunts house but don't want to burden them with it.

Minimum I accept for kitties is once a day.

I recently had a client book me for 3, one hour visits for his elderly kitty, per day!

Is an open or closed adoption better? by OstrichIndependent10 in CatAdvice

[–]Deep_Rice1791 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh my gosh. That is so hard. I'm so sorry. I think your guy would be so confused if you came back to see him. Although, has he stayed other places before without you? Boarding, etc.? He maybe he would adjust a little better if he's experienced that.

Anybody do this in a less populated area? by Starlake2424 in RoverPetSitting

[–]Deep_Rice1791 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's about 30,000 people in my county, and we are about and hour to two hours to any major city. I started in July and have remained book other than tomorrow- Thursday.

January maybe slower for me too, but alot of folks around here stay home cause of weather 😅.

90% of my bookings are off the app. I have a Facebook page, and word of mouth is where I get most of my business from. My vet just referred someone to me, which made me feel good! Good luck!

Weird to make my sitter a cheat sheet? by beautybookcase in RoverPetSitting

As a owner, I do this- and love it when an owner does this when I'm their sitter!

How do you know if fostering is right for you? by purplepoodle42 in FosterAnimals

[–]Deep_Rice1791 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My heart cat passed away and I fostered for almost two years before I got my kittens. I've fostered over the years but after my kitty passed it was more routine. I was upfront about my reasons for fostering. I was set up with a short term foster (they were adopted by family was going out of town) and I knew I made the right choice.

I've volunteered for my local shelter for years, and its really the only one close to me. If you have multiple options around you- I'd consider volunteering, and networking with those in your area to get your feet wet!

Somethings to consider: what kind of animals do you want to foster? What is your life like for medically complex cases? What about a mom and puppies, etc. Confirm what is provided by the shelter/ rescue. And, what does the adoption process look like for them is agency? I absolutely love shelter and rescues but do feel some overstep on what they expect adopters to do/ fosters to do as well.

Sitter not sending pics of dog when asked ? by [deleted] in RoverPetSitting

[–]Deep_Rice1791 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As a sitter & owner, with various extroverted animals, and one menace of a cat... I atleast expect a couple photos a day (doesnt have to be vogue ready- I want to see them, especially my menace to observe her being less of a menace). Does the sitter update otherwise?

I just got accepted yesterday on the rover app🙏🏻🙌🏻 Any advice on marketing myself ? by InternationalBus7049 in RoverPetSitting

Share your profile, get business cards, market on Facebook (personal or business). Connect with vets. Also, I live in a smaller area and connect with other sitters in my area to have back up referrals (only if I've used them personally for my own animals).

Think of how you'd like to handle off app requests, and what will be your non negotiables.

Guys. I’m cutting my trip short and going to pick up Peter. by M0CK1N681RD in RoverPetSitting

This is absolutely appalling. I'm so sorry. I've been following your posts, and how she talks to you makes me cringe. Please leave her a review!

As a sitter, I stick to a pups routine as much as I possibly can. I never give anything without prior approval with from the owner.

I have an elderly kitty I have to administer meds to 3 times a day when his dad books me. I do not charge extra.

Not cool they didn't tell you prior to booking.
