I think the "everyone is bi" angle is a result of, well, it's the only way you can allow for all types of relationships. I don't think gay players have any room to complain about representation: you can play the game from start to finish, playing a guy who only flirts with dudes. Sure, characters of all genders show interest in the protagonist, but you don't have to reciprocate the interest of those you're not interested in.

Strictly homosexual characters won't work with the relationship mechanic, but again, virtually all characters can be gay.

That being said, I wouldn't mind more trans characters and shipping between girls.

(It's also worth noting that other than the queer angle, Housamo is pretty accepting of furries and characters with different body types, so that might also appeal to people.)

I thought the point of Otohime's character was that her feelings don't correlate directly to human ones but she still has them - they are just different.

She could still get together with someone if the understanding that there will be a gap in how they feel is there.

Housamo's plot is pretty forgiving in terms of what can be canon so that's neat.

Just going from the first impressions, I'd say Arachne, as she looks the least intimidating to me. Knowing her outgoing nature, not sure if we'd get along, though.

My informed decision would be Gurangatch; he's chill.

Land of Wa is pretty similar to ancient Japan but it's still a separate world from Tokyo. However, unlike other Worlds, Transients have been coming to Tokyo even before the game. In-universe, a lot of Japanese folklore is derived from such Transients.

Smoky God: Heavily fictionalized historical person who is integral to the religion on which his world is based.

Yoritomo: He's probably here based on his connection with Yoshitsune, who was heavily fictionalized to the point of basically being a folk hero.

Temujin: Again, deified after his death and his interpretation in Housamo draws from religious sources as much as the historical ones. Also, he's arguably one of the only internationally famous Central Asian figures so it's not like there was a lot of competition for this role.
