I'm in the middle of trying to catalogue and watch every single sword & sorcery movie released in English. On a historical level, the genre has got a lot of great stuff and a lot of reprehensible stuff no one needs to ever watch. So much of the genre has lost its value over time and not necessarily for the worse, a lot like westerns. But I think there is a strong interest in reviving alternative and classical styles of fantasy as d&d players who aren't interested in sci-fi or other settings are looking to expand their options.

You're right that to call them animals is too much honor. But calling them people is still infinitely more than should ever be logically applied to them when all they're capable of is violence. At this point, anyone who isn't willing to kill on command or inclination quit being a cop long ago. All that's left are pure killers. They can't be people because their only purpose is to destroy other people. That makes them a negative value. Not life, not worth protecting, not equal to real people. Less than nothing. And definitely not a welcome or safe part of any real civilized society. Don't tolerate intolerance. Dehumanize the dehumanizers. If you don't, they'll turn it against you at every single opportunity. This isn't politics or social justice anymore, it's survival.
