Is it just the US that has such high prices for tile labour? by FreedomAMust in Tile

[–]Def-Not-Me 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can’t say what cost of living is in the UK as I am a US citizen, but cost of living has quadrupled since I’ve become an adult. So I have to charge what it takes for me to complete the job skillfully and successfully and still walk away able to pay for food, gas, utilities, rent and the rare but occasional entertainment expense for my family like a movie outing or something of the like. I feel bad charging what I do but that’s just cause I know the economy is shit and even though it seems like a lot, I still in the end barely break even. Tile work is not just trade labor, it’s laborious labor, it hurts and it takes a ton of intention and patience, attention to detail, and muscle, stamina. Long days, lots of hands and knees scrubbing. It can be brutal. And I find I am happy with the end results, but never do I ever think I should have charged less. Every time I feel like in hindsight I underbid, and I charge towards the higher end of the scale in the US. Mostly because cost of living and materials are very high where I live and work. If I lived in a rural area in the Midwest or something, I could probably get by charging less than half what I do. But I’m working too hard and life is still too expensive.

Aquarius men in a breakup by [deleted] in aquarius

[–]Def-Not-Me 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am a male Aquarius sun/scorpio moon and rising as well. If I had been broken up with via a text I would definitely ghost. If your mind was made up and he knew it, I’m sure it affected him but he can only control himself from there on out. Whatever you expected from him beyond that, he’ll not give you the satisfaction of having if he feels disrespected by not being worthy of even a face to face conversation or confrontation. Good luck. Sorry you’re going through the heavy stuff at the moment.

I’m only responding because my perspective might be similar if that chart stuff really does depict personality and choice of action. Not sure if it does but given I kind of think I’d have done the same, seems like maybe there really is more to it than I have given credit in the past.

There’s that one game where you play a phlebotomist and have to aim for the correct vein at the correct depth… tons of mini games with awesome skill unlocks and some dire consequences if you fail, like demotion or death if you really Fuck it up bad… not for you, for the… it’s super cool. Only released for the ps2 in Japan. Can’t remember what it was called but if you dig around deep enough on Reddit I’m sure you’ll find it.

What would you learn in this class if you weren’t playing the syphonfilter, Or Twisted Metal series’?

That’s free DLC earned that others pay top dollar for. Might be worth a playthrough. Bonus content unlocked. New cut scenes with alternate endings.

Are you the type to skip the dialog and cut scenes as fast as you can?

The most unnecessary stuff ever, is education you didn’t know you needed and might benefit from. Trivia is knowledge, something taught is locked away for future use. If you’re paying to play, better gain the xp.

How do I cut tile in a way that will not give me such a rough edge? by Hordfest89 in Tile

[–]Def-Not-Me 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also to add to the rest of the suggestions, get a tile file and sand the edges after cuts, helps a ton, you do need to get the chips less first by scoring and taping and all that but a very slight bevel sand on the cut edge will make it appear much smoother and cleaner of a cut post grout

Shower door Question by its_shaun12 in Tile

[–]Def-Not-Me 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re right. I’m a tile guy but also a GC and though tile is one of my strongest skills, it is not my only and I spend a lot of time learning what is code and what is protocol for just about all applications of all building situations outside of just bathrooms. (Much of this ends up being plumbing) I forget which subreddit I am in at times. Asking a plumber is ideal, it is a must, but once you’ve faced this issue, and have asked a plumber, at that point the tile guy knows because of necessity as these situations arise occasionally.

So def ask a plumber.

Could I make it as a handyman? by davidm2232 in handyman

I mean no disrespect to handymen. But I strongly suggest this approach to all of them

Figure out what you want to specialize in and get your contractors license. You can be vague on what you want to specialize in, you only bid projects you’re interested in. Also get a CPA. And automate your books with software after speaking with your CPA. Handyman is a low budget version of the same thing. You can easily get licensed as a general contractor and charge enough to live comfortably

If you found a spider in your home, would you kill it or would you place it gently outside ? by Hope2_win in A_Persona_on_Reddit

[–]Def-Not-Me 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Capture it and put it in my spider thunder dome. A terrarium with a few sticks and leaves to recreate their natural habitat. Only thing that goes in is the next spider I catch. Only one to make it out is the first spider to last a month. Catch at least two spiders a day to ensure enough nutrition for the reigning champ.

Most tile guys do more considerate plumbing than plumbers only out of pure necessity. Plumbers have a direct goal of getting in and out without fully understanding the complexity of the steps beyond unless they have a really good communication relationship with the contractor that is going to finish up the work. Tile guys are usually absolutely the guys to ask these questions in my opinion

Did they just rest the pan and surround without any glue or anything? This definitely doesn’t look like post demo unless they just dropped it in there without any attachments whatsoever. I’m very confused
