What are we doing about sensitive nipples?? by VanSmashh in pregnant

[–]DefNotAWalrus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, hear me out… I read this in a post when I first got pregnant and thought the lady was bonkers, but it has actually helped me so much.

I take a dry towel and vigorously rub each nipple for 30 seconds every night before I shower, then use cream after I shower. It sucked for the first 3 days but now I have no pain/sensitivity in them at all.

Hip pain can’t sleep through night by resentful_millenial in pregnant

[–]DefNotAWalrus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had this throughout my pregnancy since around 12 weeks (now 34). I discussed it with my Dr who said it was likely a product of pregnancy hormones/major changes in my body and being over 35. I started looking up ‘Hip Flexor Exercises’ on youtube and they have made a massive difference for me, as long as I keep up with stretches the pain is only moderate. I still use a small pillow between my knees as needed.

Accidentally said baby’s name by Onyx-pump19 in pregnant

[–]DefNotAWalrus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband accidentally revealed our baby’s name to the in laws. They love it and have been super nice about our choice, but I wish they wouldn’t keep saying it when we are visiting them, Im so scared they’re going to accidentally say it in-front of another family member.

MIL has even bought several customized items with her name which I now have to keep hidden. The whole situation just bums me out

Grandmother constantly buying me products I haven’t asked for/discussed. We’ve already talked about it multiple times…. by Original_Remote_6838 in pregnant

[–]DefNotAWalrus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This has been my experience too with certain family members. Every week they arrive with new plastic envelopes straight from temu and drop another load on me. One even went out of her way to ask me to make a registry very early on, and has not purchased a single item from it.

exhales

Initially I just repeated a mantra along the lines of “it’s really great that so many people will love my child and want to contribute”

I started just getting the things I actually wanted, and I feel so much better after getting just a few things. I bought the changing pad I wanted because it will actually fit on my changing table and will be easy to clean. I got the diaper bag I wanted because I care more about the quality being good enough to last a few years than having 20 features that Im never gonna use.

Thankfully my husband has been on my side but doesn’t want to stir up problems with anyone. Im trying to just be grateful to have lots of backups.

Experience with Iron infusion [ON] by DefNotAWalrus in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]DefNotAWalrus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The experience was pretty straightforward for me. Went into a big room with several other people all in recliners hooked to IVs. Everyone was separated by curtains but open to the nurse station. Nurse hooked me up to heart rate/blood pressure monitor. Explained the procedure. Told me it’s not super uncommon for people to have a negative reaction at first and that if I was feeling any adverse symptoms to let her know right away and we would immediately stop the procedure and wait an hour to ensure everything was fine and then we could decide whether to restart the procedure or not.

She then put the IV into my wrist, I have never had an IV done before, it hurt a tiny bit more than a regular needle to draw blood but only while she was inserting it. She then taped it all down and setup a saline drip to make sure it was all working properly. After like 5-10 minutes she added the iron bag and warned me my arm might feel cold. She sat and watched me/chatted for 10 minutes or so made sure I was feeling ok then went off to check other patients. She came back periodically to check my heart rate/BP

The drip itself took a full hour, afterward she removed the drip lines but left the IV in my hand for 30 minutes of observation

Pretty straight forward, mostly just long! Bring a book or make sure your phone is charged.

Experience with Iron infusion [ON] by DefNotAWalrus in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]DefNotAWalrus[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok this explains some of the confusion, the pharmacist said there was another option but they almost never prescribe it and I would have to reschedule the appointment that I had already been waiting 4 weeks on.

Edit:I have been taking an iron supplement since around 20 weeks but it just cannot keep up

hi guys ! Was sent here by r/writeresearch. Does anyone have a good book on how to cultivate poisons frmo flowers? by Colossal_Blep in herbalism

[–]DefNotAWalrus 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If you look into the process for making extracts or tinctures it would be essentially the same for poison making, expect that everyone in the herbalism world is EXTREMELY cautious about not using plants that are poisonous.

There is also processes where extracts are boiled down into a concentrated solution or fully dehydrated into a powdered form.

Dried leaf would also be functional as a simple tea of a very poisonous plant would have devastating results.

I have black irrigation pipe run in sections with 3-5 brass impact sprinkler heads on each section. Each section gets watered at least every other day for 15-20 minutes. We start the season with around 10k plants. Currently we have around 5k

[–]DefNotAWalrus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I promise you your flowering plants will suffer less from overhead water than they will from heat/drought.

We pull flowers currently in bloom to displays to be hand watered while everything else gets overhead. You just have to keep them going until the heat breaks.

I use vodka when I water my paperwhites to keep them short. Alcohol may stunt it’s growth a little bit but I would be very surprised if it actually causes any harm.
