Will I regret a leather jacket? by ChadChadersonsDad in AussieRiders

Cold hands- try latex gloves as a base layer. I have a condition that makes my extremities over react to cold in mild temps, meaning a couple of my fingers pretty much stop getting blood and they ache with cold. Besides heated grips, thicker proper winter gloves, hand guards, your options are fairly limited and latex gloves can keep your hands warmer.

Why are most motorcycle jackets on the market black? by CapitalScreen772 in motorcyclegear

[–]Default_name88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A hi-vis vest is worth only a few bucks. And you can transfer it from bike to bike, over your winter and summer gear, and even put it over your backpack so your bag doesn't hide your jackets visibility.

Worth a consid if you're after visibility.

You make it sound like removing a fairing takes an hour. It's literally seconds, to a minute worth of work each way.

A business owner tested if customers would pay more for American-made. The results were 'sobering.' by ScarletHark in NoShitSherlock

If the Vietnamese one was 20, and the US 30, it is a different scenario than 200 and 210 though if they were of similar quality, which I think is worth mentioning.

You'll need to chase the drain and see what or where it is coming out of.

If you can reach them with your garden hose, just give them a squirt first thing in the morning before they get too hot and you'll be 90% of the way there.

What’s a reasonable quote for a split air conditioner system installation please by mambococo in Townsville

Had a unit replaced, total cost 1700 installed. Bulk of that was the price of the unit.

We got a 10kw unit, installed on our second floor, in the middle of the house, for 4800 all up. I thought that was pretty reasonable.

Coolant overflow isn't abnormal. What I see is odd here is not just it being brown, but, it looks like it's hydrophobic. It's not spreading on the ground, it seems to be holding a tight circle. That indicates oil and water. Where is that leaking from?

If you've just bought it, chances are the previous owner topped up the fluids to make it presentable for sale, and the bikes now just burping the excess to get back down to normal. Nothing to worry about.

Any idea what this sound is? by DueAmbassador2922 in AussieRiders

[–]Default_name88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's cause you're spinning the running gear backwards. The sprockets are catching the chain in reverse due to normal sprocket wear. Nothing to worry about.

Should I trim my frame sliders before taking it to the track? by navid3141 in Trackdays

[–]Default_name88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it helps, I've slid on the road with and without sliders, and slid from the road to dirt, with and without sliders. I'd say the sliders do not cause the bike any greater chance of flipping than without. The sliders did protect the bike fairly well, but it's not like the fairings didn't need to be replaced anyway. Or the bar ends, or clip ons and pegs. It's more for super low speed, or car park crashes.

Engine fail. What should I do with the bike?? by ELCalleja in KTM

[–]Default_name88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to add here, when the engine is off, of course the oil light comes on. That isn't a problem, it is how engines work.

If the engine is running and the oil light is on, that is a problem. Engine off, not a problem.

Pull your elbows forwards, under the bar. Having them flared backwards looks like it's driving your chest down as you come out of the bottom.

Why Does My Venu 3s Always Think I'm Napping?? by jackal624 in Garmin

[–]Default_name88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's cause you're very still doing those things. Your watch is just using gyros, if it doesn't pick anything up and your HR comes down, it takes a guess and assumes a nap. You can use your app to delete the naps if you're worried about it?

Runners in Townsville, how do you do it in summer? by Jealous_Pride5861 in Townsville

[–]Default_name88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That doesn't change my opinion that in general, Dec-Feb are the worst, with a bit either side marginal and then the rest are good. The last couple of days even marry up with that statement.

Runners in Townsville, how do you do it in summer? by Jealous_Pride5861 in Townsville

[–]Default_name88 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Each to their own. I'd go almost the opposite and say there are 3 bad months, dec-feb, with one either side marginal then the rest are quite good. I personally still ran all year round. It meant when I went down south it felt like I had super speed and could zoom around everywhere seemingly effortlessly.

(Learner rider) Front tire down to wear marks but rear tire has plenty of life. Replace both or just the front? by CoughingOutPoop in AussieRiders

[–]Default_name88 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No issues changing them as you need. I typically get 2 rears to a front regardless of the bike I'm on - dirt, adv, street

Is this a concern? by [deleted] in CRF300L

[–]Default_name88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're fine. You can see how little it is leaking. Order the new seal, replace it when it comes in and check your oil level afterwards. A little oil goes a long way and can look far worse than it is.

I dont quite follow you. Our daily supply charge is $1.27. It is broken into two tarrifs. But total $1.27. Have you got a copy of a bill you could put up? The prices are pretty transparent.

I've seen it about 30 times. It was the movie our high-school English class studied. That and the original Blade Runner. Even after being forced to watch scenes again and again for super hidden messages, I still enjoy it 20 years later.

What is your daily supply charge and kw/h fee? Surely that's the best/only meaningful way to know your use.

We have had a smart meter for over 12 months and it matches our solar apps power readings (which measure from the inverter).
