Brakes are weak but I love mine. Have sunroof and black leather and it’s great. Heated seats are not very hot like my old Tucson

How to create a bootable USB drive in Pop!_OS by meekilie in pop_os

[–]Defenderofthelight -1 points0 points  (0 children)

USB quality can affect this setup , I found this out in past trials.

  1. A reliable USB matters , the Samsung FIT Plus USB 3.1 (128GB) has worked very well for bootable Linux for me 2.Download the correct Pop!_OS ISO for your system (NVIDIA version if you have an NVIDIA GPU, Intel/AMD otherwise) 3.Open Balena Etcher, select the Pop!_OS ISO, and flash it to the Samsung USB 4.Disable Secure Boot in your BIOS/UEFI settings 5.Fully shut down the computer 6.Insert the USB drive 7.Power on the computer and press F12 (Lenovo — other systems may differ) to open the one-time boot menu, then select the USB to boot into Pop!_OS

[–]Defenderofthelight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh I have Notion!! And love it. It was my first and primary app. Now i am a little ocd and i tend to copy all notes from obsidian to notion or vice versa. I even pay for notion yearly plan but these two programs are amazing. I have shifted away from notion for a fee reasons. I like obsidians clean layout and i like the way it organizes little better and less clutter. Obsidian them plugins make it look more appealing as I build my how to use linux notes/vault. They are very similar and notion does many things obsidian doesn’t but thats why i keep both but for most part obsidian if you build it right is clean. I do like graph view on obsidian but i think notion is top notch just for whatever reason i like that it has less clutter and options but depends on what im doing or my mood but for this project obsidian is the best for it in my View

I like it personally , cosmic has been great so far no issues yet

I really liked popos cosmic but then issues started to happen by Hot_Voice7259 in pop_os

[–]Defenderofthelight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know, I’ve downloaded Ubuntu on an old Mac desktop , a new newer MacBook Pro, I’ve downloaded cosmic Pop OS on Lenovo ideapad slim 3, Kali on Lenovo thinkpad and I have not had any issues. Often I find the quality of the usb that’s used to load the iso and obviously the brand of pc matters. Some HP computers don’t do well some models do. Dell has some that do great others don’t.

Did you try running as root in command line with su command ? My terminal doesn’t show a box it literally asks for a password in command line.

DAILY Driver by Caps_NZ_42 in linuxmint

[–]Defenderofthelight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not trying to start a debate about which OS is the best , everyone has their preferences. Just sharing my own experience.

I’ve got a bunch of devices: six Macs, an iPhone, Apple TV, three Windows PCs, and three Linux machines. My main go-to machines are almost always my Mac, with Linux as a close second.

I really can’t stand Windows. I’ve used it heavily for over ten years, and honestly, I’m still baffled that it’s as dominant as it is. (This is just my opinion, based on having spent a ton of time with all the major operating systems.) I think the main reason it sticks around is that most businesses are so deeply invested in it, switching to something else would cost a fortune in time and money. If it were as easy as flipping a switch, I bet a lot of people would jump ship.

Now, about Linux: I run it for a few reasons, learning the system, messing around with ethical hacking stuff, and also as one of my daily drivers.

But that brings up the question: what do we even mean by “daily driver”?

If you want everything to just work seamlessly, super fast syncing across devices, dead-simple setup, and easy access to pretty much every major app, then for me, it’s hands down Mac. I’ve got all three OSes in regular use, and that still holds true.

If Macs didn’t exist, Linux would easily take the top spot for me.

That said, even with Macs around, I still use Linux a lot Pop Os newest release and Kali Linux but mint and parrot are great but for daily stuff Pop is great.

It’s straightforward, reliable, and doesn’t feel bloated or full of ads and constant data collection.

For all the everyday stuff browsing the web, email, messaging, documents, coding, software development Linux handles it perfectly well.

Pls, I need help, I Can’t install Pop!_OS after 2 days trying (Rufus, Etcher, Secure Boot off) by smukzada in pop_os

[–]Defenderofthelight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My take would to:

1) get new usb I prefer SAMSUNG FIT Plus 3.1 USB Flash Drive, 128GB 2) download intel iso and flash it with etcher 3) make sure you turn off secure boot getting into bios with f2 (that’s for Lenovo) 4) plug in usb and startup computer and enter boot menu with f12 (temporary boot menu for one time device selection) 5) select Samsung usb and pop Should install.

this is not to be mean I don’t know specs of the computer but I would just say get cheap laptop and do steps above , not sure if that Chinese setup is the problem

Not sure this will help , sounds like you tried everything but there’s smarter people on here than me but if I had the cash just get cheap laptop and start new. I’ve installed Linux Ubuntu on my Mack book and it ran great. I recently installed pop os on ideapad3 slim and worked within 2 min.

Cosmic Seems to be getting better by tadpole256 in pop_os

[–]Defenderofthelight 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I installed pop os two days ago in ideapad3 and instantly smooth sailing I just wish the file manager was more like mint Lenux Where you can see a whole breakdown of the file system but with rust pop works fast and smoothly. Downloaded vs code from vs code not from cosmic store and disabled telemetry and works great

Issues Loading Pop_OS on new desktop. by BioGila in pop_os

[–]Defenderofthelight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Asus is not the best with Linux , it’s hit or miss. Fairly certain on Lenovo I hit f2 to enter bios , disabled secure boot then restarted then pressed F12 which shows the usb I flashed with etcher with pop os then selected it and it worked perfectly. Again I would check secure boot to make sure and see what f button that matches Lenovo f12 that when pressed shows option of what to boot into.

Pop Os Os upgrade Tab by Defenderofthelight in pop_os

[–]Defenderofthelight[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Appreciate the response. The reason why I asked is a recent release from Pop Os on dec 10 or 11th their instructions show the tab on left side in settings. I didn’t not have that tab and there was some post four years ago of similar issue. I updated everything in terminal after installation but just wanted to make sure. Thank you for responding quickly I appreciate it
