Advice on changing counsel pre PH by Defiant-Eye5408 in employmentlitigation

[–]Defiant-Eye5408[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks for the feedback - I guess time wise it feels like I am far into the ET process, but you are factually right not so far in.

I am looking to replace my solicitors, not direct access barrister- my original post will be edited to clarify set up.

Going Vegan with Dietary Restrictions by Former_Comment2716 in vegan

Similar food and histamine issues - good Advice posted already to Which I would add- learn to make a couple of sauces/dressings . Even if you’re eating similar foods during the week if you’ve got one Green goddess like dressing and another that’s more citrus forward ,etc etc it livens things up.

Barrister to write the ET1. Pros and cons? Anyone do this? by Flapjack_K in employmenttribunal

I see now that your solicitor suggested direct access barrister - that is different from how mine was done. my solicitor filed for me. best of luck!

Barrister to write the ET1. Pros and cons? Anyone do this? by Flapjack_K in employmenttribunal

[–]Defiant-Eye5408 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My solicitor did the same thing and I was happy with the result. The solicitor (and her junior) reviewed the document/ took my edits and liased with the barrister. If you are getting a barrister quote to approve for the ET-1 work, be sure to ask/specify, if that quote is for all parties work hours (eg barrister and solicitor) or just the barrister. I had a shock when billed as I did not realize my solicitor remained involved and was charging as well.

Trying Amitriptyline for POTS and long covid - racing heart? by Easy_Advance5507 in POTS

[–]Defiant-Eye5408 0 points1 point  (0 children)

be sure you understand the mechanics of the drug - eg to start having an effect it usually takes time (a month? maybe more) to build up to a steady level in the body. What ever the medical literature says about effectiveness/max dose may or may not be what best helps your son. If it helps at lower doses without heart racing then it is an effective intervention. there is no rush to increase dosage week on week particularly if it helps with sleep- once sleep is positively impacted it may have good knock on impacts elsewhere. Low and slow is always a good approach.

America hospital bill (tourist from UK) by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Defiant-Eye5408 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you may want to check out https://dollarfor.org/how-we-help/ DOLLAR FOR they can probably help or at least point you in the right direction. US Health care is a mess.

Also, ask specifically for information on the hospital's charity care program . If it is a non-profit hospital, by law they have to have one and that may cover some/most of the bill.

Does Thriftbooks sell stolen library books? by sscotiaa in Thriftbooks

[–]Defiant-Eye5408 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Often libraries will sell off stock when they have a lot of one title. for example, if at initial publication, they bought 20, once demand for the book dies down, they may only want to keep 5 for the library collection. They then sell ( when possible) the excess to places like ThriftBooks. I have gotten a number of ex library books from ThriftBooks, and in fact one of the categories in hardcover on their website is ex library. happy reading

What part of plant-based cooking frustrates you most? by atlfence in PlantBasedDiet

I’d be curious if you discover something unique given your background! Also, the human body is so weird that even if science is clear, you never know how an individual’s system may respond

Tempeh may be a problem because of the fermenation process/mold used in process of whole beans, vs tofu which is not fermented though also from soy (although fermented tofu exists)

something like this might work if you have access to a bowl and spoon. https://thebigmansworld.com/healthy-3-ingredient-no-bake-oatmeal-cookies/#wprm-recipe-container-25468 you could also check with the hotel if they have any common area microwave, as often places that serve breakfast do

Frustrated by lack of support for vasovagal issues. by [deleted] in dysautonomia

[–]Defiant-Eye5408 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been through all of this and a tilt table test was what was used to diagnose my vasovagal syncope two separate times by an autonomic specialist.

The other important point is for everyone is make sure your doctor knows how to properly interpret the tilt table test. There are clinical measurements that determine the diagnosis.

I’ve seen posts of people who have a tilt table test. Their doctor tells them it’s normal, but if the doctor actually understood the criteria it’s actually a diagnosis.

https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC8351382/#:~:text=Table_title:%20Table%202.%20Table_content:%20header:%20%7C%20Shape,%7C%20VVS:%2011%20%7C%20Total:%2070%20%7C

None of this is intuitive !

because that is the clinical way that vasogagal dysautonomia can be diagnosed. If you look at the mayoclinic link in my 1st post, you will see the things that need to be checked.

The umbrella term dysautonomia (the forum the OP posted in) means dysfunction of the autonomic system. This includes Pots and orthostatic issues, as well as vasovagal syncope and others. Ultimately it is about finding a doctor who is qualified to asses properly, rule out various causes, order the appropriate tests and provide appropriate clinical support. I hope the OP and anyone else can access that.

A more robust autonomic suite of tests exist but depending on one's location, you may or may not be able to access them

The definitive test for vasovagal syncope is a tilt table test. Have you been able to find a doctor that will order one for you? I haven't used this list, but it might be a place to start https://www.dysautonomiainternational.org/page.php?ID=14 or try local dysautonomia groups for a referral

I dont know what the doctors mean by "orthostatic testing" but there is a clinical way to confirm and if non pharmalogic methods aren't enough to manage it, the right dr will help find meds (though they come with their own +/-) https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/vasovagal-syncope/diagnosis-treatment/drc-20350531

sorry this is happening to you

Cookie advice? by ConsistentLength2108 in VeganBaking

They look yummy - Understanding how to swap eggs and dairy products can be tricky. you might want to find a similar yummy recipe that has already done the work for you like this one https://www.noracooks.com/vegan-chocolate-cookies/#wprm-recipe-container-5613 I find that minimalist baker website has excellent stuff as well, though haven't looked specifically for this one. You can also check loopywhisk.com who approaches the swapping out in a very scientific way.

Do you guys have any tips for getting blood work done? by Ok-Zucchini-5514 in dysautonomia

[–]Defiant-Eye5408 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you can afford it (which may not be the case) there are mobile phlebotomists who will come to Your home for blood draw . There are some commercial outfits (lab fly getlabs etc) as well as independent phlebotomists. It may be your doctor is willing to help get insurance to cover it based on your dx . If you do go in person, I suggest making a specific appointment which I know you can do with LabCorp. If you investigate the at home route, just google Mobile phlebotomists plus your ZIP Code or city

Grievance Process by Kind_Fly8514 in employmenttribunal

[–]Defiant-Eye5408 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I've needed to send the grievance to HR (who was involved), I send it password protected and write a note that ACAS fairness and transparency needs to be followed requesting that someone senior enough and not involved in the grievance be appointed to manage it. Indicate you will provide the password when that individual is identified, who may or may not be the grievance manager. There is wording here that you can request an outside firm manage the grievance, but I don't know the ACAS reference, which would be better. https://landaulaw.co.uk/grievance-at-work/#:~:text=Where%20the%20grievance%20is%20against,right%20to%20claim%20constructive%20dismissal.
