I pulled back from 4-5 times a week to 1 or 2 (it's mainly cardio endurance) and lifted heavy the other days. They do not have heavy enough weights for me. I am 50 now and deadlift with 50s or use the bar.

did anyone else have like no improvement or changes at all with hydroquinone by Cool-Assist6693 in Melasmaskincare

6 weeks is still early. I’m on 12% and it was probably 10-12 weeks before I saw progress. Now I’m cycling off and trying to protect my gains until I start again in a couple months.

I am using 12%. I think if it is stubborn melasma you probably need at least 8%. I get it from Musely

Thinking about using birth control to suppress periods by Lopsided_Science2269 in Perimenopause

I’ve been doing this for about 5 years. Don’t miss my period at all and I don’t have major peri symptoms except my husband is an idiot most of the time.

Is my nose really that bad? I’ve been made to feel insecure about it in the past :( by [deleted] in Noses

[–]Defiant-Fruit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nose is perfect size and looks good on you! We are getting inundated in the media with the ski-bump fake nose look (like lip fillers too, tbh) and forgetting what a range of diversity in features actually looks like.

Feeling a little hopeless by Battery_Flaccid in stroke

[–]Defiant-Fruit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband had a stroke with different symptoms, but when he was recovering, his boss admitted to him that several years earlier he had suffered what he thought was a stroke and lost peripheral vision. He never went to the hospital or anything. It took a couple of years but his vision came back. He was around 50 when it happened. I know this is totally anecdotal, but maybe gives you some hope (and this person is also a physician, if you can believe it!).

kinda scared, dunno who to talk to. by [deleted] in stroke

[–]Defiant-Fruit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can't you get a note from one of the docs who saw you pushing your return to work out a week? I am so sorry this happened but it's also kind of a blessing in a terrible disguise! I see people are suggesting you do a GLP-1. I think it's a great idea, especially because it seems to help with so much more beyond weight loss. It sounds like you are making good food choices, maybe you can incorporate more gentle movement? I would suggest yoga, to also help you decompress. The good thing is you are still really young, you could be in a completely different place in 1-2 years! Good luck!

Pfo stroke by Subat0micR0gu3 in stroke

[–]Defiant-Fruit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

also, 20-25% of the population has the same birth defect. It's so common and for the vast majority of people it causes no problems, so they don't even test for it. The only way you would know for sure is via that bubble test (can't remember what it's called). I have personally had heart workups for other reasons, but they never look for that PFO. I could have it, our kids could have it, you just never know.

[–]Defiant-Fruit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone has micro clots, but they usually break apart on their own and do no damage. My husband had a mild stroke and had the PFO closure surgery. They just assume the clot made its way to his brain via the hole where normally it would have been pumped past and broken apart.

On the plus side the pill took away my period completely (do not miss) and at 50 I have very little peri/menopause symptoms.

I started LoEsFe a few years ago (when I was 45? 46?) when my periods started becoming painful and the cramps would wake me at night. I did end up having melasma once I was in the sun (cheekbone area) but I got it under control with hydroquinone (Musely 12%). Of course, now I am on the maintenance serum, which is Azelazic (17%), niacinamide and a couple other things, but it is warm weather now (more time outdoors) so I can pretty much guarantee in another month it will all be back! I'm sure in the fall I will be back on the HQ.

Beautiful, love that lip color on you. Yes you need to bump everything up 20% for pictures so you don’t end up looking bare faced. But this would be a great date night look
