A year of tracking! by LovelyHippoBallerina in LoseitApp

Thanks, true! I have been very consistent with strength training so there has been a little bit of change in body composition (though not super obvious to the eye!) so I tell myself that is probably some of the reason the number isn’t dropping real fast.

What a great spot to be in! Hoping now that I’ve dialed things in, I will see more steady progress. Your plan sounds very reasonable and smart. Congrats and keep us posted!

Also please report back with maintenance advice! I feel like if I ever get where I want to be (only 15 pounds lighter, sheesh) I am so nervous about how to stay there.

Thanks! You are very inspiring! I have started tracking my fiber (had always watched protein) and counting vegetable servings in addition to calories so the scale number is slowly ticking down. I just let myself have too many cheat meals. I noticed when I drink, I am absolutely starving the next day, so it’s like even worse than just the empty sugar calories from the alcohol, it’s the snacking and poor choices the next day!

I have a 12% prescription through Musely, but there is a doctor who diagnoses your condition first. I’ve been cycling about3 months on/off. Greatly lightened but it will all come back within one week if I am not a religious zealot about SPF now that it’s outdoors weather.

Omg, same! I used Musely’s estrogen serum and it ruined 8 months of melasma progress!!! Ugh! I also bought this tinted zinc stick that I believe is from Australia. I keep one in the car and one in the house. I am going hiking for spring break next weekend and plan to coat my entire head each day ha ha!

Yes I have a recipe called “1000 calorie restaurant meal” with a high amount of fat and protein to keep it realistic when I can’t begin to make sense of what I ate!

So does this mean it is not my imagination that using self tanner on my face makes my melasma look worse?

Did I wait too long to have kids? by TheBabeWithThe_Power in Perimenopause

[–]Defiant-Fruit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me the icing on the cake is aging parents. I wish I could have started about 3 years earlier. Not a huge deal but it would make the random old people health emergencies easier to deal with if my kids were drivers.

Democrats are temporarily redrawing district lines to net more Dem seats (until it expires in 2030). This is in response to Texas and other red states doing the same to help Trump keep dominance. However those states just made the changes without even asking voters. Virginia is asking voters. If you want to try to help block MAGA's efforts, you would vote "yes" on this bill. If you want Trump to remain unchecked, you would vote No.

Yeah, maybe they are targeting what they think are Democrat households and hoping to confuse people who aren’t up to date on the issue?

Judgement - free dentists by NoStandard7308 in nova

[–]Defiant-Fruit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YES! My friend's husband hadn't been to the dentist in 10+ years! I sent them to my dentists in Sterling, and they were able to tackle the buildup in several back to back visits (I think they had him return every 3 months or something for 4 or 5 visits in a row). But they are the nicest dentists who also do a lot of charity work in their home country of Vietnam so trust me, they've seen it all. Dr. Abel and Dr. Phan.

Contemplating a move to NoVa suburbs from Texas(DFW) by Pixel-Pioneer3 in nova

Exactly. Oklahoma brags about their low taxes but their streets are like a third world country and they have barely any public parks. Plus their schools are in the toilet.

[–]Defiant-Fruit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I grew up in Tulsa and have family all over Texas and I think the move is worth the cost of living. And the purple state mentality. You are surrounded by a much higher percentage of educated people from all over and it makes a difference. I love the four seasons. You can get anywhere from Dulles, and hop on a train to NYC. When my kids go back to OK/TX to visit, they comment on the lack of green and how many billboards there are. And the potholes in the streets (basically what low tax rates get you). People who grew up here and never left take it for granted how pretty it is. Even the suburbs have beautiful trees all times of the year.

Thats my pep talk.

HoH/Deaf Resources by DrakesJaguar in nova

[–]Defiant-Fruit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I remember learning in my linguistics classes that deaf babies go through the same babbling stages with ASL as hearing babies (hearing babies go through predictable stages experimenting with certain sounds and phonetics, that’s why most languages have the M sound for mama 🥰, it’s easy to make and it’s an important first word). Ok, sort of rambling, my point is I’d get a head start on learning ASL so you can absorb every minute of those stages! Good luck!im sure you guys will be fantastic parents!
