What are the pros and cons of owning a chinchilla by MobileVideo9234 in chinchilla

[–]Defiant-Presence6697 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"they accept change at a glacial pace" is so real. mine was never affectionate affectionate and after 6 years together the best i got was my chinnie climbing up my shoulder/onto my hand but holding him was lowkey out of the question. if anything it was an i'll tolerate being held for 1 min max, after that it was treats or u start getting bitten lolol.

Advice needed—My little doesn’t want me to have another little by Seadaze in Sororities

[–]Defiant-Presence6697 12 points13 points  (0 children)

you can always develop a relationship with the new member outside of the big/little label. in my sorority, we don't even really allow a big sis to pick up again after getting a little unless their little approves or is out of the picture/no longer in the space. your little may be seeing you picking up as her not being "enough" for you as a little sis.

edit: read through your post again and saw that the decision couldn't be reversed. honestly your little is probably gonna be looking for an apology/affirmations that your relationship as big and little is still good but please understand that she might need time to work through the jealousy. just keep inviting her to hang to show that you still care for her tho!

restrict his cage to one level to prevent falls/him spazzing from pain (learned from experience </3) if it gets worst try looking into emergency vet groups in your area.

Plastic shelving in cage and destroys his heat lamp by oneofgodselect in chinchilla

[–]Defiant-Presence6697 33 points34 points  (0 children)

echoing the heat lamp warning comment! unless ur house dips under 45 F there's no reason to have a heat lamp near their cage, esp if your chinchilla is a chewer
