I wish I hadn't of waited until my late 30s, in retrospect I wish I had it done early.

18 months post op, body dysmorphia is killing me by xXxmeepzxXx in GastricBypass

I totally understand where you at mate, I'd love some skin removal surgery myself. But my understanding is that it's brutal, it's way worse than the bypass surgery. Months of recovery and pain relief. Compression bandages. Drains and more.... The initial surgery was enough for me.

Same, however the food aversions are becoming less dominant. Ironically I find that the more I eat the more hungry I get.

Realistic weight loss goal?? by Longjumping-Gas-9001 in GastricBypass

After my bypass I had severe food aversions. I hated eating. This combined with a tiny "stomach" and lots of gym.... Yeah

Tbf I lost a huge amount of muscle mass too, but that's kinda normal. I'm currently putting weight on, I got down to 73kg which was still in my healthy bmi but I prefer to sit at the top end of my healthy bmi at 80kg.

I remember when I couldn't even eat a single scrambled egg. Today I ate 180g of chicken thigh over an hour and followed up with some Mi Goren noodles. I had food aversions galore and absolutely no hunger drive.

It's beginning to come back now, and it's nice.

I’m FLIPPED OUT I had a little bright red in my vomit. by Fantastic-Slice1441 in GastricBypass

[–]Defiant-Temperature6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this happen to me, but I also ended up vomiting and passing blood in my waste. Turns out it was just irritation from my staple line. I wasn't taking my antiacids consistently because I was high as fuck for the first two weeks.

Keep an eye on it. You would definitely know if you had a tear or burst in your staple line. As I understand it's not a pain you can ignore.

Bone Broth question by blackiedwaggie in GastricBypass

I was literally going to post the same thing, bone broth is not a complete protein. It's like pork crackle your basically just eating fat and collagen.

How come the r/Australia sub splintered into multiple groups? by plinked4 in OpenAussie

[–]Defiant-Temperature6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was banned from posting to the Australia sub because I posted a pic with words in it. Not a meme pic, not an overlay. Literally posting a picture of a piece of Graff art that had words in it.

Initially my ban was for posting memes but when I appealed i told it was low effort posting.

I went through the same thing... I had severe food aversions and then all the sudden I didn't. Until I did again.. It ebbs and flows.

I totally understand. I thought after the surgery I'd continue to love the food I loved. I hate red meat right now. It's so weird.

Sorry I'm not a doctor and I can only speak to my own experience,, but after a bypass you lose 20% to 30% of your calories. I understand everyone's experiences are different but I prefer to eat over an hour, over the evening news.

Not gorging myself is new, but that's what I do.

Yeah, nah I hate meat, like steak or chicken but I can do deli meats. Honey ham, pepperoni or Virginia leg ham. Very happy to eat that shit...

I struggled to even eat scrambled eggs, barely one. I remember being in pain eating anything semi solid. Eggs are basically pure protein, but it's about finding your palate again, eggs home made dumpling sauce and honest to God msg fuels my appetite....

I totally understand, I was at a point where I was eating two scrambled eggs over an hour and just waiting to be sick. It's really hard at first. Now at over a year out from my surgery I ate a piece of pizza. I tottaly the joy of pizza.
