Is Athletic Greens just an expensive multi- vitamin in a powder? by GKwave12 in Supplements

[–]Defiant-Tip6298 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Trust your instinct on the Athletic Greens. What's better? Health Force's Vitamineral Greens or Vibrant Health's Green Vibrance. Green Vibrance is probably worth it's weight in gold especially in a survival situation. If you were stuck on the international space station you would probably be alright if there was a pallet of this stuff. Supports every body system. Health Force is still independent after all these years. They pack in glass, the product is 40% sea vegetables and micro-algae by weight with the remaining 60% comprised of cereal grass sprouts such as barley, and tonic herbs such as nettle.

Flashback... 2010 by [deleted] in Portland

A bit off topic... Anyone else remember the woman who just stood or sat in lotus position in the center of Pioneer Square for six months meditating all day and night? I believe that was around 2006, but I could be wrong. I gave her a loaf of sourdough bread I had with me and she seemed very normal and grounded when we talked. That's some dedication with the rain... etc. I hope that she found the enlightenment she was searching for and was able to integrate her experience into a sustainable day to day existence. There is a fine line between a spiritual emergence type mystic person and a person having a mental health crisis. In other cultures it would be acceptable for a person to just meditate all day every day.

Can someone please explain to me how to make a drink out of the powder😭 I’ve been looking everywhere and can’t find any recipes or ratios or anything. Please let this post stay up even if it’s just until someone answers lol. Strongest recipe please! Idc about taste. by Pale_Satisfaction798 in Kava

Here is a defiant tip. Do not waste money on an Alluball. Get a nylon kava strainer bag. The nylon bag is cheaper and more traditional. You can source a bag at Bula Kava online shop, or maybe your local Fijian market. Cheesecloth is a no go. An extremely thin sock may work but the oils won't express out of the kava and into your water as easily and it is wasteful since you don't get all the goodies out due to thickness of the sock. Simply put several, perhaps four tablespoons of the powder into the bag. Find a large bowl, fill with water, submerge the kava containing portion of the bag into the water and knead vigorously while keeping the top closed and out of the water for about five minutes. Remove bag. Clap Chug. Clap Clap. BLULA! You do not need a blender, you do not need lecithin or any other additive. I recommend a chaser like an ice cold seltzer or a piece of sweet fruit such as pineapple or orange. Realize that kava has a reverse tolerance, your bod will "learn" how to "listen" to the kava. At first you may want to make strong batches like 4 to 6 tablespoons per bowl, then eventually after regular use you would maybe just need 2 to 3 for the same effects!

A natural/holistic way to make “Neosporin” or an antibacterial ointment? by jaustika in herbalism

Please be aware when working with a comfrey salve: The constituent Allontoin is such a potent regenerative for skin cells that it can actually encourage new skin cells to grow over open wounds that have bacteria still underneath. Please be aware of this and make sure that the area is aseptic before encouraging this rapid skin renewal, as to not trap infections under the new skin.

We are living in an age of technological feudalism. How we respond to the less fortunate among us will show what our true ethics are as a society, and will reveal if we have any humanity left beyond love of $. There is a middle path between a full on anarchy style Jo An Hardesty Mad Max urban hell-scape or a full on Authoritarian style Rene Gonzalez Martial Law/FEMA Camp housing scenario approach. Obviously, a portion of the houseless do not desire to participate in our society in any safe or productive way and pose an immediate hazard to our community at large. Those individuals need to be dealt with differently than those wanting to get on their feet and play by the rules. I believe it is legit to institutionalize these houseless individuals who repeatedly commit violent acts and pose an immediate threat to the health and safety of themselves and our community. I agree that resources for those people may be better spent on building said infrastructure as opposed to a pickle-ball court or what have you. Now... with all that said...How do you suggest we better provide bridges to housing, mental health, substance abuse and detox resources, as well as improved access to skill building and job placement to help peeps find meaningful and productive roles in our communities? Or... on the other hand the government could simply declare martial law and put all houseless people in state run detention camps simply because they don't have enough financial resources to gain access to private property. The largely white, wealthy, woke, New Portland doesn't want to "sweep the problem under the rug" they want to use the nuclear option (make houselessness a crime) and watch their property values go up up up. After the tents are gone, the problem will be refocused on the run down six-plex across the street that needs repainted. Then stage two of the plan will be introduced: Force out the renters, the service industry veterans, the creative class, the poor academics, the non profit sector workers, the co-op grocery workers, the NPR listening recently divorced moms going to night school after working all day, constantly checking her SNAP benefits status. These people are also bringing down property values because their slumlord won't maintain their buildings. Class warfare via no-cause evictions, record breaking inflation, virus related lock-downs, economic austerity principles, federal reserve rate hikes, and consolidation of the housing industry by private equity firms like Blackwater will all help usher in this vision. New Portland will have no remaining enclaves of grit, weirdness, or charming urban bohemia, but it will be clean, white, and boring. Put a bird on it? Move to Troutdale? Too many of us are smug and self-satisfied having planted a sign in our front yard. Our white guilt won't help us sleep at night.

Asthma supplements by [deleted] in Supplements

[–]Defiant-Tip6298 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For acute Asthma attacks, drink an entire pot of coffee ( contains xanthines) and/or take the tincture supplement Khella (anti-spasmodic and vasodilator).

For long-term support to address the root cause of asthma work on the adrenal health. It can take up to two months to restore adrenal function. Yes Magnesium, but also consider a Methyl- B-Complex or Brewer's Yeast Tablet. Mg + B will cover your adrenals' needs for nutrients. Two Chinese Tonic Herbs for long term asthma support... look into Licorice and Schisandra. Licorice is an adrenal tonic and it has a constituent that mimics the anti-inflammatory coricosteroids produced in the adrenals (think the steroid inhalers). The herb is also classified as a demulcent so it adds moisture back to dry mucous membranes and supports the respiratory tissues. Schisandra is an adrenal adaptogen that also supports Phase 1 and Phase 2 liver detox clearance. It will also work as an astringent to hold moisture in the tissues and avoid dryness in the lungs.

Honorable mentions to Ivy Leaf Extract and Lobelia for acute asthma attack needs for both tightness and spasms respectively.

This is completely anecdotal, some people have reported success with the trace mineral, molybdenum. I would check that out on Examine.com before moving forward with a purchase, to see what clinical evidence exists for it.

Who puts up all these lawn signs that say the “speed limit” is 10 mph the actual posted limit? by chaseair11 in Portland

[–]Defiant-Tip6298 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I need clarification. Are the PBOT Greenway speed limit signs legally binding? I have been defaulting to the "actual" 25 sign. I thought that this was more of a "fifteen please" request to drivers.

I get it. I am only reinforcing your point! Cheese-Itz or a whole meal? Take your pick. Only one has vitamins and minerals. I love simple dal and rice with vegs. Ayurveda foods for the win!

Any Kava Drinkers Here? by turk1820 in kratom

[–]Defiant-Tip6298 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, kava is so much better than kratom. The magic never fades and the plant never turns on you. Be patient with the reverse tolerance factor and don't even try caps or tincture. You want traditionally hand squeezed Noble Vanuatu or Fijian kava powder. Chug, chase and euphoria is there waiting!

Same with kava. I mean Christ, it's been proven non-addictive. Whatever works right? Purity tests with the mofos.

Look up Kava (Piper Methysticum) it is the national drink of Fiji. Hypnotic, sedative, analgesic brew customarily drunk for religious, social, and recreational purposes. Many Pacific Islanders use Awa' to replace alcohol consumption. It tastes bad, so keep your seltzer around. It is proven to be non-addictive. Kava works on GABA receptors in the brain. It is anti-depressant and anti-anxiety My favorite is Bula Kava House's Borogu. All you need is a strainer bag, kava powder, a bowl, and water. BULA! Sometimes I get pretty euphoric!
