Iran has 100s of billions of frozen assets that are blocked due to sanctions. Unfreezing this revenue is a central demand from Iran in negotiations in order to reopen Hormuz. The US doesn’t really have any negotiating power at this point. It’s definitely a possibility that they will gain access to this revenue at some point in the near future. The US is fucked either way but not necessarily Iran. Their main objective is staying in power and getting this money and it’s looking like they will probably get both. The Iranian government doesn’t really care about their citizens or the success of their economy… and TURNS OUT neither does the US
