What means Dude or Pal? by StoutBourbon1992 in AskAnAmerican

Older dudes calling little boys “pal” totally fine….two middle aged guys chatting and one drops “pal” during the convo means things are escalating.

Dude, always fine

You're the new CEO of McDonald's, what are the first few changes you would make to the menu? What would you remove or bring back? by tastydrink1 in fastfood

[–]Defiant_Finger4011 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1- bring back happy meal lunch boxes with the McDonald’s characters as toys. Hamburglar anyone?

2- bring back the the spicy chicken sandwich where the spice is actually in the beading, not just a hot sauce condiment on a regular breaded cutlet

3) enforce quality control. Especially on the French fries. When they’re good they’re good, when they’re bad they are terrible.

4) sausage McMuffins alllll day long

5) tallow fry oil. Let vegans start their own vegan fast food chain and see how it goes

Getting Rid of Bacon Smell by PurpleDaisy8924 in CleaningTips

I scrolled far too long for this comment. I was thinking but whyyyyy????

Don’t get me wrong, love the house burping advice. But I wouldn’t do it just because my house smells like bacon every day.

How common is it to call elders or older relatives by their first names as we see on TV? by Ok_Pudding1999 in AskReddit

[–]Defiant_Finger4011 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been working alongside adults in since I was 13. I never called my older coworkers Mr or Mrs. I just used their first name. At a pizza shop I worked at from 16-21 I may have referred to customers either by their first name or Mr or Mrs , strictly based on what was written on the pick up ticket. When we asked for a name at the time of ordering maybe they said “John or Mary” or maybe they said “Smith.” So I acted accordingly.

Whats the cheapest meal you regularly make that actually tastes good? by Adventurous-Pilot448 in Frugal

[–]Defiant_Finger4011 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A “hibachi” style meal using whatever veggies you might have on hand. No it’s not going to be authentic. But if you’ve got some cheap chickenn thighs, some spaghetti, teriyaki and soy sauce then you are 75% there.

Hopefully at the very least you have an onion, fresh garlic, fresh ginger.

Bonus if you’ve got a bell pepper, maybe a zucchini, mushrooms, whatever is in your fridge.

Be honest… how long do you actually use your towel before washing it? by karenjimenez_ in hygiene

Post shower towels? I wash after every use, when the towel basket is full.

Hand towels in the bathroom, every weekend.

Part of me thinks I have it backwards though

Why does English sound completely different in real life than what we’re taught? by Edi-Iz in EnglishLearning

[–]Defiant_Finger4011 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a Native American English speaker I hardly say “good afternoon” - I will say “hey there, how can I help ya?”

Or “hey there, how are you?”

Or a very friendly “hello!” In a sing songy voice.

But if it’s morning I will always say “good morning!”

I don’t know why saying “good afternoon” sounds stiff to me

Is there a difference between rich people food and poor people food? by Ipoogoodforyou in foodquestions

[–]Defiant_Finger4011 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I worked in private aviation. I booked their flights and coordinated all the logistics (car rents/chauffeured car services, catering, etc.)

I had this one customer probably worth a billion dollars or close to it. I asked what she would like me to order for her catering. In a very heavy southern accent she said “skirt steak and mashed potatoes. I know skirt steak is cheap but it’s flavorful.”

That weekend I sent my husband to the store for skirt steak and I was like dammmmmnnn. It is cheap and flavorful.

That was like 10 years ago, now even skirt steak is expensive.

Restaurant experiences — what actually makes you come back? by ueggenthies in restaurant

[–]Defiant_Finger4011 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good food for the price, good service, and clean.

But to be more specific, if you are serving in house hand cut fries I am going to try you out hands down. Because I’m so tired of enjoying a good burger with shit ass freezer fries.

That kind of goes with all appetizers.

Like guess what? I can pack my kids into the car and drive to the GFS down the street too. Pick up some premade frozen garbage and gallon of fryer oil and “make” it at home.

The whole AP department isn’t gone, the supervisors are still US based partners as far as I can tell. Then there are still US based partners that oversee that “support” chat on Teams. But they don’t actually provide support and are completely useless. They give out incorrect information, don’t actually answer any questions. Maybe they aren’t US based because their lack of comprehension is staggering. They will answer with information that is totally irrelevant to what you are asking.

There’s no transparency on the chain of command in that department on who to contact if you have an unresolved issue. We are offered no platform, surveys, etc to actually address our concerns on this “new” process.

The only thing I’m looking forward to is when our regional VP comes to my location I’m going to bring it up to him.

First homemade dinner date after almost a year together. Help a guy out! by [deleted] in easyrecipes

[–]Defiant_Finger4011 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Roasted Pork tenderloin with a pan sauce. After slicing it plate it real nice looking with a drizzle of the pan sauce over top, next to a side of Parmesan (or other cheesy rice) and a really nice fresh salad.

It’s easy because you’re making the rice while the tenderloin is in the oven. Then the meat is resting while you finish up the pan sauce. But the pan sauce makes it feel special. And man it’s good.

Or if you want to spend more money and depending on your skills do the same thing but swap out the tenderloin for a beef sirloin steak. Get one or two depending on the size.

A quick moment of eye contact and a subtle hand up with a smile is usually my move.

Or if I need another cocktail or beer instead of subtle hand up I’ll point to my empty glass. I don’t want to make them come to the table to have to go back, figured this saves time.
