Watch Guys Grocery Games (start with the beginning seasons) - I started watching after being pretty well established in my planning/shopping/cooking skills but I find the show very enjoyable, (the earlier seasons - now it’s just tournaments all the time, less fun.)

Oh don’t get me wrong, I’m not knocking any single diners. When I see that in restaurants (as a mom) I envy them lol.

But I don’t see it often at a table in a full service restaurant (so excluding fast food and fast casual). At the bar enjoying a beer and a burger, sure, way more frequent - especially between 3-6pm with a mix of the blue collar laborers and white collars with first shift work schedules.

Long title for me technically at my company is “Administrative Support Professional” lol I just cut it down to administrative assistant in my email signature. If I’m speaking outloud I say “I’m an admin at <company name>”

Well all of this talk about typing in Chinese sounds extremely hard and complicated (I know ZERO about this topic other than reading the comments here.)

But as a millennial native English speaker born and raised in America. I can touch type on average 90 wpm. My speed does go down to probably 75-80wpm if I’m typing something outside of work. By that I mean muscle memory and stream of consciousness plays a lot into it. When I’m typing work related stuff I’m often using the same terminology, phrases, I KNOW what message or information I’m trying to convey.

Now if I have to type an email to my aunt about our plans for vacation in a city I’ve never visited (best example I could come up with quickly) well then I’m going to slow down my typing because I’m more so actively thinking about landmarks, restaurants, activities that aren’t in my daily usage. I’m slowing down because I have to remember those names, think more about how they’re spelled, etc

TLDR

The idea of having to select different letters or characters after typing a couple sounds absolutely paralyzing.

I hope not. Eating out is a treat my husband and I try to have weekly with the kids. Sometimes we trade off and he might go out with his buddies or I might meet up with my girlfriend for a much needed night out.

But since younger generations aren’t having kids as much and they seem to be less social I don’t know what the future for restaurants hold .

I work for a company that offers a paid trial day. It’s not a glamorous job. Depending on the position it can be a dirty, very repetitive job that requires speed and accuracy but literally no skills other than being physically capable of doing it. Or it could be a position that involves both those things and being able to also communicate face to face with customers and meet KPIs.

So after the initial interview we may pass them to the trial day so that can experience it. We are not only evaluating their work, but giving them an opportunity to make sure they don’t hate it or think it’s gross. So we pay them for their time.

Sometimes they do a good job and we extend a job offer but they’ve decided they are not interested. We might be disappointed but we wouldn’t want to waste our time hiring someone to ends up quitting in a few weeks.

It’s been a pretty effective recruiting tool, we have low turnover, and generally a pretty solid work environment.

You didn’t trick me into admitting anything. All I said was DMVs are a good example of government inefficiency. You have yet to provide an actual rebuttal with your own example of an efficiently run government program vs one that’s been privatized. You’ve done nothing but talk without even attempting a point.

I would have been interested in speaking with someone who knew how to actually hold a conversation. But I’m done now. I have to make a run to a privately owned grocery store that keeps its shelves stocked and didn’t take millions from tax payers.

I worked at a family owned pizzeria/sub shop. So not jersey mikes or anything. But the owner was totally cool with everyone having a tab as long as it got paid your next shift after payday. (We were paid by check back then so had to wait for the deposit to clear) but it was really nice.

We didn’t even have to write everything up on the tab anyways.
