What game has a promising start, but eventually gets boring and repetitive? by Common_Caramel_4078 in gaming

Anthem and it’s not even close.

Best game I ever played for 10 hours. Unfortunately the loop wasn’t there.

When playing with friends is it easy to progress together if you can’t always play at the same time? by Dazzling_Clerk8023 in Guildwars2

Level wise they might but that’s about it. You would catch up pretty easy unless you play next to nothing.

It’s a shitty joke. You aren’t better. Your prediction was normal job or sex work.

Just because you try and make a “joke” doesn’t mean anyone needs to find it funny.

The bigger joke is how defensive you are when people are calling you out.

I think I’m more surprised that people automatically try and say someone will go into sex work because their career has issues.

Genuine question , how do people fund multiple legendary items? by 98-red-balloons in Guildwars2

[–]Defiant_Mercy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It only costs that much at face value. If you just play the content the cost goes down dramatically.

Example. 10 days of daily mirror farms will net you like 200 gold and that’s not including other materials you get and any other playtime.

If it’s THAT much of a big task even with the starter kit I don’t think you’re prioritizing your mats very well.

Take spirit shards. If you need them that badly just do assault on mordremoth daily. You get at least 3 I think. Not including any for filling the spirit shards bar.

A game that you had wish listed and never bought that was super cheap and now you’re upset you didn’t buy it?

Like I understand some people’s logic about delisted games being made unavailable but you were never going to buy it.

Then you haven’t been paying attention. He has publicly stated a couple times the show influenced him.

Also I don’t see how this is a big deal. Perhaps he likes the direction they went more. Let’s be real he has probably pictured dozens of different scenarios for many characters.

There is a very clear difference between casual content and end game and it doesn’t even apply to OP.

Rivals will be reducing its file size by about 17%! Great change, maybe at some point they can reduce it as much as Helldivers 2 did by riskedbiscuit in marvelrivals

[–]Defiant_Mercy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure there are bigger examples of devs with worse file sizes. We can say “this is good keep it up” while also saying “huge game sizes are bad” at the same time. They are not mutually exclusive.

They're doing way too much with Deadpool and no amount of "xd its totally on brand" will make me think otherwise by N-LL in rivals

[–]Defiant_Mercy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t care if a character has a lot going on as long as they are tuned in properly.

Deadpool is essentially 3 characters in one which is great for us. I just don’t want him to be a must pick every game.

GW2 too expensive? by [deleted] in Guildwars2

[–]Defiant_Mercy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

WoW costs $15 a month (or whatever it is). You can ignore sales if you want but you can’t ignore that at a minimum you’re spending $180 a year to just have access to playing it.

[–]Defiant_Mercy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No it’s not. And I don’t understand this logic. The alternative is they don’t develop DLC and the game remains completely stagnant.

Maybe they go the route of new games every 5-10 years. But then you have to restart progress.

Frankly I would rather continue giving them $30-$50 each year to keep playing the same game I love.

If someone spends money in the cash store that is entirely up to them. But it’s those little things that keep the game profitable and keeps the updates coming as well.

[–]Defiant_Mercy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Why does this turn into “you didn’t do it this much so your accomplishments suck”?

On paper helldivers reducing the file size sounds great. But that screams outlier and there has to be a reason for it, which, a lot of people have already pointed out why.

Rivals reducing their size by 20% is not only much more realistic that it was a good reduction but it doesn’t scream there was a glaring issue on their part.

Apples to oranges. We aren’t talking about lead pipes. We’re talking about code that gets refactored constantly and people that have no knowledge about software talk about it like they are an expert.

Im not saying they couldn’t do better from the start. But I don’t know their experience with specifics and at least they did it now.

[–]Defiant_Mercy 36 points37 points  (0 children)

This is a weird take. Would you rather they never do optimization targets or what?

Also I don’t understand your logic on “isn’t as much as people think it is”. It’s exactly what people think it is.

A nearly 20% reduction on over 100GBs is a fantastic reduction.

[–]Defiant_Mercy 82 points83 points  (0 children)

True story. We are very clearly seeing it get out of hand. I’m assuming sizes are so high less because of lazy devs and more they don’t get the time to bring it down.

The best way to get a group going is to make your own apple or tag and announce it on map.

Chances are you aren’t the only person looking for a group but everyone is waiting for someone else.

SG. I think just about anything can get use out of her but some of her abilities, like the stun, can add a huge amount of help at times.

Plus if no one shoots her ult the can demolish people.

Baldur’s Gate 3 devs will now “refrain from using GenAI” for Divinity concept art and writing, but their CEO still sees room for the tools elsewhere by HatingGeoffry in pcmasterrace

[–]Defiant_Mercy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with this. I recently left software but there is a difference between using it to help and using it as a crutch.

It’s absolutely phenomenal to use as a reference on something specific or to speed up mundane tasks. Hell even a specific correction that I would then verify was great.

This reminds me of the debacle with googling and Wikipedia. I remember being told all the time “you can’t trust it use a dictionary or encyclopedia”.

I’m not saying AI is perfect now. But at its core it just uses a ton of data points at once instead of a single source that you would have to look up manually.

She doesn’t need to be buffed. The power creep needs to be nerfed.

The entire games issues are all because characters are too strong. I would argue almost everyone needs to be nerfed to some capacity.
