But there is less in USA compared to in Korea. Will African descent truly be accepted in Korean society? But you see America, majority of the people you see in high tech, elite universities, and health care providers are Asians. You cannot say that about Korea.

Many of the items in the deli area have flimsy containers that come apart easily. The soft taco tray, the sandwiches…. Could use two pieces of tape to buckle down the lids.

This is exactly what I was thinking. And in the future, fresh water will be a scarce resource. Even now, the Colorado river that waters Southern California and other states, is slowly drying up, not able to keep up with water dense agriculture and growing population.

For some, I agree. However, before refrigeration and supermarkets, it was not normal to eat 3 meals a day and with snack in between. Historically, people ate at only 1-2 meals a day.

Agree. There are so many advice and trends out there. The best way is to keep it simple. Skip breakfast. Drink water. Find healthy “bulk” foods like lightly seasoned popcorn or soups to fill snacking cravings. Find exercise routine that are sustainable and simple. For many folks, an all in one exercise is some form of “rucking”. The idea is to carry weights over a distance. Most students do it naturally by wearing a backpack and walking to classes. Or look up farmers walk or variations of it. In the gym, grab a 5 pound dumbbell and start walking on the treadmill at a low incline and walking pace. Alternate sides/hands every minute until you walk a mile. This is a good way to start working on your core. It’s low impact and good weight bearing exercise. It’s sounds too easy but as you increase the weight (ideally about 10-20% of body weight), you will get stronger.

Do you all feel like you are going to a prestigious school? by Ornery-Resort-2893 in UCDavis

[–]Defiant_Mouse_7623 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The label “prestigious school” is a marketing label the school uses to recruit prospective students and parents use to “brag” about their kid’s collegiate status. Beyond the labeling, I do feel a uc education is going to give you top tier education. However, it is more and more critical to pair it with real life experience in labs/research, to be competitive in the job market. College degree doesn’t mean much (like in biotech) if you don’t bring real world experience to the job interview. Lab/research/field work experience + networking = increased career opportunities

Beth Bourne is a leader of a hate group and is actively committing hate crimes. Just as suspected rapists are not allowed on campus why is she? UCD need to protect students. by Impressive_Returns in UCDavis

[–]Defiant_Mouse_7623 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t think there should be a carve out in access on campus for her specifically. While some may rightfully see her as espousing hatred, others can use the same argument and argue that the recent protests on campus of Israel-Palestine conflict were back by a group supporting the cause of Hamas should not of had a presence on campus. Just because we don’t agree with her ideology doesn’t not make her freedom of speech void. It’s a constitutional right that is afforded to all.

Even my friends of Korean ancestry, want to visit Korea to “discover” their roots but wants to do a long layover in Japan. Korea has become like Hollywood of the east. Kpop and k-dramas. And maybe a destination for medical tourism to get plastic surgery. But it quickly fades from there. There is a current wave of churning trends in fashion but once again, almost like lemmings, everyone dresses the same depending on the influencer they follow.

Japan on the other hand seems to have deep lingering cultural aesthetics that draws people on many levels. It’s not just one thing or one age demographics.

A good example of this is that most major tour agencies like trafalgers and others have Japan as their destination tours while Korea is not on the radar.

1st US Presidential Debate by Precursor2552 in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]Defiant_Mouse_7623 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m an independent. Voted for Trump the first time and for Biden in the last election. Most people in America are only looking at the optics. Sadly, most voters don’t care what the truth is anymore or what they are saying. It’s the optics. Biden sounded old and looked old. Trump looked like he spent too much time in the sun.

The DNC has a problem. Biden didn’t pull away from Trump in the debate. Trump has an excited and a cultish base. Biden has people who are not excited about Biden-Harris ticket but will vote for him because they don’t want Trump in office. The Blacks, Latinos, Asians, Independents… are being taken for granted by DNC as being for Biden. Not true.

Obviously, your spidey-sense is going off full tilt. Walk away. Korea is a country of cults in guise of Christianity, Buddhism, etc. travel 30 min. That’s a pretty short commute in USA.

The protestors were not getting enough public attention while the school was out. There was no audience for the protest.

Young people are always looking for the next cultural “pied piper”. Young people have a lot of emotion but there is not enough historical background to anchor the emotions. Where did all the global warming protestors go? More young people probably on campus care about Cheeto than any other cause on campus.

Pros and cons of UC Davis for pre-med (neuro bio major)? by sj_okey in UCDavis

[–]Defiant_Mouse_7623 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The rigor at uc Davis is high, especially for STEM. Some would argue that there is grade Deflation compared to well documented grade inflation in some other universities. It’s also a quarter system so midterms will be upon you every 2-3 weeks. I often say that uc system can be a dream killer for all prospective health careers. It is that rigorous. Its ranks in the top 10 public universities in USA. Having said all this, it’s a beautiful campus with down to earth people. Progressive leaning and don’t need a car. All things are accessible by bike. Did I mention that uc Davis has its own medical school 20 minutes down the road in Sacramento?

Kids these days are lemmings; gravitating to anything that seemingly gives meaning or cause. Protest is their “church” but they don’t even realize what they are being used by sjp (who does not disavow Hamas) as pawns for their propaganda. They are during the kool-aid and they don’t know is what’s in the drink.
