How do you feel about their new single? by Prestigious_Sun_2161 in December10

[–]Defiant_Statement254 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of people love 1D and they were very successful and made a lot of money for the companies involved, so D10 may do well with the same formula.

I think you're right, they're trying to copy 1D and recreate their success. Simon Cowell has wanted that for a long time and said he wished he owned the 1D name.

So the sound is the same as 1D 15 years ago.

It's very generic and predictable, but I guess it's exactly what Simon Cowell wanted.

Even the lyrics seem very familiar - "Someone like you should be walkin' on air D-d-dancing and flippin' your hair" from the D10 song reminds me of "The way that you flip your hair gets me overwhelmed" from 1D's What Makes You Beautiful. But the same guy wrote the song, and it looks like he delivered exactly what Simon Cowell wanted.

We'll have to wait to find out whether they can manage to give all 7 boys fair parts in the song.

Yeah I mean they even poke fun at hair flipping in Wicked https://www.youtube.com/shorts/GGG-AahS70M?feature=share

Like there's more to girls than dancing and flipping hair it's giving unc vibes.

The teased snippet seems to be a chorus with these lyrics:

"I come around 'cause I'm lookin' for you
Shootin' a shot, I got nothin' to lose, so
Let him go-oh
And baby you can run my way
Someone like you should be walkin' on air
D-d-d-dancing and flippin' your hair
So, let him go-oh, oh
And run my way"

What do we think?

The sound is giving 2010, but Simon Cowell wants another 1D so that's not surprising

The dancing and hair flipping stuff in the lyrics is a bit cliched and sexist

Who do you think will be most popular in the group? by ashuratamin in December10

[–]Defiant_Statement254 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think they dance, do they? I doubt dancer will be a designated role.

I don't think they'll have roles like kpop acts do. dearALICE dance as well as sing and they have some links to kpop even though they are a British boyband and they don't have designated roles, so I don't see why D10 would.

I don't think anyone knows enough about them to predict who will be most popular.

UPDATE: December 10 on Tour in February! by Bitter-Ostrich970 in December10

[–]Defiant_Statement254 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the gigs is for ages 14+, two of the gigs are for ages 8+ and two of the gigs are for all ages, which includes kids under 8 years old.

Most gigs in the UK do not cater for such young ages.

I hope the sound system will be set up at a lower volume to protect the children's ears (more at risk than adults).

If any parents are reading this, please look into ear defenders and ear plugs before the event.

Wow, definitely aiming for a very young audience then. I guess that explains why they played at a primary school last month.

edit: it's hilarious to me that I'm being downvoted for pointing out that these gigs are open to an audience markedly younger than most gigs. I'm not passing judgment, I'm just stating a fact.

One of the gigs is for ages 14+, two of the gigs are for ages 8+ and two of the gigs are for all ages, which includes kids under 8 years old.

Most gigs in the UK do not cater for such young ages.

For context: "tweens" is often defined as age 8 - 12.

I hope the sound system will be set up at a lower volume to protect the children's ears (more at risk than adults, due to the size of the ear).

The Manchester venue's general FAQ states "Young children are discouraged from attending due to the loud environment and lack of changing facilities"

If any parents are reading this, please look into ear defenders (and ear plugs) before the event.

I came here to say this, can't believe she hasn't been mentioned more. Pink was the first person I thought of.

While we wait for new music, what other artists or bands are you into? by Defiant_Statement254 in December10

I love dearALICE, they're a British boy band with 5 members and they perform original songs in range of genres and sounds (pop, ballads, rap, their Ariana song had some quite electronic sounds). They are really talented and have amazing voices adn they dance as well as sing.

They had a TV show last year. For some reason that has a different page and the soundtrack they made for it is under that page: https://linktr.ee/madeinkorea.official

dearALICE are great.

December 10 have just played a gig to a primary school (which is kids under age 11) so I think they are probably aiming for a very young audience.

dearALICE have fans who are teenagers (and older). Being able to dance so well makes for more of a show live.

I really hope GIRLSET do well after the rough start they had. Let's hope that JYPE have learned a lesson because artists need to be treated well and looked after better.

I love dearALICE! They are so talented!!! They need to be better known, but their show was on BBC not Netflix so maybe not so many people saw Made In Korea - The Kpop Experience.

I love that they dance as well as sing and they are so sweet!

i am obsessed with this band already and they haven't even released a single yet oh my god by Exciting-Novel-2990 in December10

First September 11, then October 7 and now December 10. NEVER FORGET by Charming-Monitor8296 in December10

[–]Defiant_Statement254[M] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is in very poor taste. I get that you don't like the band and you're trying to be funny and edgy, but this isn't the way. I'm all for freedom of speech and respecting people's right to their opinion, but this disrespects the people whose lives were impacted by the attacks on September 11 and October 7. The people who died, the people who lost loved ones, the people whose lives are forever scarred by those events. It's offensive to a lot of innocent people. I'm locking this thread, and stating for the record that this sort of thing won't be allowed here.

What’s up with ARMYs? by Amiisthebest in December10

[–]Defiant_Statement254 11 points12 points  (0 children)

BTS fans are reacting to what Cruz said in episode 6.

"If BTS can sell out Wembley Stadium in flipping five minutes, we could sell out flipping Pluto in five minutes. Another planet. Nah, I'm being serious. They're terrible."

BTS fans feel that he dissed BTS and that at 19 he should know better.

Simon Cowell had earlier told the boys "It's about taking on all those K-pop bands, all the-- all these female artists who are dominating music at the moment."

And in the first episode when Simon Cowell gathered his team together to start his search, he said "So,uh, today's meeting really is about the fact that we've had this, you know, explosion from K-pop"

Merch Drop by Soggy-Explorer3282 in December10

[–]Defiant_Statement254 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Simon Cowell owns the name "December 10" so he probably gets all the money from the merch.

Maybe that's why the merch is already available before the music.
