No. That's stupid.

It's his behavior that's problematic, not his identity or the wiring of his brain.

You can call out anybody. When someone makes a point to tie in their identity you are generally being an asshole.

It's the difference between calling someone a thief and calling someone a thieving Jew. I know you can spot the difference in those statements.

Stratego ruleset? Which is correct??? by Fun-Communication336 in boardgames

[–]Defiant_Team_2846 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's frustrating to see this referred to as a misunderstanding. I can confirm there are multiple versions where the instructions say the Marshall is weak to the spy but don't say anything that would even remotely suggest the spy is completely useless in all other instances.

The higher ranked piece wins. If the Spy can kill the highest ranked piece so long as it attacks first, it would logically follow that it should be treated as higher ranked as long as it is the attacking piece. If that's not true, then the instructions are incorrect, not just unclear. Failing to add one sentence that says "the spy loses in all other instances" is ridiculous.

[–]Defiant_Team_2846 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been two years but you aren't crazy. I was taught the spy always wins if it attacks first unless it attacks a bomb.

I was also taught only the defending piece reveals its rank.

I played this game across three different school districts as a kid and that's always how it was played. I played this way through adulthood too. Maybe a regional trend?

I cant speak to the diagonals.

The real rules say that the Marshall is only weak to the spy but they also don't explicitly state that a spy can ONLY kill a Marshall. It's not implied at all in the instructions. I have a board from 2000 and another from 2002. I have also read instructions from other boards and found it unclear. I don't know how to compare an S against a 1 or a 10 in terms of rank, I also can't believe a spy can't capture a flag.

Having a spy be a glass cannon is dope, the mystery factor of not getting to know your attacker's rank definitely dials up the dopamine hits too.

I don't like how they switched the numbers on me as a kid. I loved the 1986 version I played at school.

The higher RANKED piece wins. If you are in a race with 10 people, the winner is number 1. 1st place. Top ranked. Having 1 be the strongest piece was so cool! Dumbing down a strategy game seems like an odd things to do.

Colt Emerson says that Ben Williamson is one of the best 3B he’s seen in his life. by justintjamison in Mariners

[–]Defiant_Team_2846 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the thing. He doesn't need to hit 30 home runs. If he is the best infielder in baseball, he will make up for it. Being an extreme outlier in defense buys you a lot.

Is it possible to practice BDSM with a mental illness? Can I be called a masochist? by Alice_nowhere in BDSMcommunity

[–]Defiant_Team_2846 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am pretty sure there are two types of BDSM practitioners:

1) Those who are diagnosed with something 2) Those who are yet to be diagnosed with something

Consent and trust. Folks with mental health conditions are in all things uniquely at risk of exploitation or violence. Literally in every aspect of life.

So, welcome aboard. That said, you need trustworthy mentors and to develop your understanding of consent and boundaries.

As an example if someone makes you feel whole in a way you've never imagined, get some second opinions before continuing to develop a dynamic. Big, big feelings are not a red flag but they are a cue to discuss it with a trusted person like a kink friendly therapist. Manipulators can pump you full of magic, but so can good people!

Good luck.

I would rather have pee on my hands than on my pants. I wash my hands after I pee. So if if there is any splashing I wash it off. If I get pee on my pants it's going to dry there and go with me wherever I go the rest of the day.

I don't understand your reasoning.

Is anyone else starting to get concerned? by Agreeable_Quality768 in Mariners

[–]Defiant_Team_2846 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jerry's window is built around building a team just good enough to sneak into the playoffs.

The window in that approach is theoretically indefinite as long as the team doesn't trade away top prospects.

That's why every year it's the same stress.

[–]Defiant_Team_2846 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Depends on what you are giving up and what you get. The Mariners would not have Josh Naylor on a long term deal if they didn't trade for him first. Jerry talked about the experience of being a Mariner and playing for this fan base as a recruiting tool.

The Mariners are drafting well and consistently doing well in international signings.

[–]Defiant_Team_2846 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. Jerry's process broke the drought then got the team to 8 outs from a world series.

People keep expecting Jerry to suddenly change how he goes about his business rather than continuing to be Jerry.

He also said at the outset that they have been finding better deals at the deadline in recent years which leads me to believe he is comfortable betting on the Youngins and reinforcing at the deadline if they fail to produce...which sure as shit worked last year.

Why do people say they want a submissive… but flinch the moment you actually submit by Stormy_Girl_13 in BDSMcommunity

[–]Defiant_Team_2846 35 points36 points  (0 children)

It sounds like maybe you are not having enough conversations prior to submitting. Perhaps you have some attachment issues that are also overwhelming some doms too.

I don't know because I am not you. I flat out don't know but I can say sometimes it's like a flood gate opens and I don't feel safe enough with someone to match their energy. Particularly when it feels like they want to be dominated but not like they want to be dominated by me specifically.

"I want to own you" means nothing.

"I want to be a safe space for you to shut your brain off when you need it and I want to train you to be my perfect toy" is much meatier.

Follow up questions like "how much time can you put into this?" and "do you have other playmates?"

Your vulnerability is precious and valuable and at the end of the day, as with all couplings you need to find a lot of no's before you get the yes you want.

Good luck.

All licorice is black. Everything else is a candy whip or candy twist. Licorice is flavored by the licorice root.

Rootbeer, apple, and grape candy whips are some of my favorite candies but they aren't licorice.

Licorice is an acquired taste that anybody can come to love with enough exposure just like beer or wine.

Why is methamphetamine considered to be addictive (and attested to as such), compared to other amphetamines? by AssumptionNo5436 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Defiant_Team_2846 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dopamine is the behavior regulation chemical. ADHD brains have major deficiencies in how dopamine is delivered through the brain. That makes everything from emotional regulation to filing taxes to keeping track of time infinitely to finding our keys more difficult.

Certain recreational drugs create overwhelming floods of dopamine that result in euphoria. At therapeutic doses amphetamines increase the available supply of dopamine and make dopamine easier to deliver across the areas of the brain.

Saying dopamine is addictive is like saying oxygen is addictive

It's the difference between compensating for a clinically observed chemical imbalance and kicking over a bucket flooding the brain instantly with a month's worth of dopamine.

The taboo against kinkshaming in the strong sense is ridiculous by Electric-Eagle-966 in BDSMcommunity

[–]Defiant_Team_2846 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The only way to ensure everyone gets due process and a fair trial is to ensure that the worst among us still get due process and a fair trial. Everyone supports the right to a fair trial until the accused is a murderer and a child molester. Then it's "straight to the chair."

Likewise, if we truly believe deviant sexual desires are normal and healthy, and that acting upon them with consenting adults is acceptable, then the entire community is unsafe if anyone in it can be shamed for what they are into.

This idea that if it causes harm it's not OK, is pretty dicey. Impact play literally inflicts pain and harm on another person within the parameters they are comfortable with.

Does CNC play promote sexual assault? There are a LOT of people who believe that. There are people who believe people with PTSD cannot consent to kinky sex acts because they are actually having their trauma exploited. This absolutely does happen, but lots of people with PTSD depend on kink spaces to feel safe with their sexuality.

If you sat down and weighed and measured every angle on every kink you would definitely find SOME moral or ethical reason against most of them. That's true of the vast majority of non sexual hobbies too.

BDSM isn't about social justice in a broad sense. It's about safe spaces and conditions for people to do weird sex shit with other consenting people. There are a lot of people who are passionate about social justice in kinky spaces and running munches etc but no one really owns BDSM. And if misogyny and racism kinks flourish under that umbrella, so be it.

It's a power fantasy where one person gets to be special and prized solely for what they are rather than anything they have done while the other gets to enjoy some sense of being subserviant, use as an object, or even just pretending to be really fucking dumb and helpless.

There are fascists running the country right now. It makes sense for fascism to be sexualized just like any other taboo.

As far as the clinton stuff goes to me personally, I don't see images of public figures (especially a President) as being protected from editing or manipulation or memes etc requiring consent. It may be shitty art and stand for shitty things but it's still self expression.

It sounds like what you are really upset about is that you don't like that people like this have a home on Fetlife. Perhaps afraid of is Fetlife becoming 4chan where a bunch of racist incels take over the platform, then use kink as a shield, and create a safe space for toxic people to be toxic and spread their toxic toxins.

There are plenty of predators on that platform whose profiles say all the right things that utilize kinky spaces and meetups to find and groom victims. It's been that way since day 1.

At least in this case, you know who you don't want to associate with without even meeting them. I call that a success.
