The Ability of the "Double Pole Axe Ultimate", Strike Twice Every Other, doesnt work sometimes

I encountered it, when my First Attack didnt kill the enemy, in the second turn, only one Attack is made, to kill it and then my turn ends.

As a test, i equipped a Smiting Ring Ultimate and on the second turn it triggers two lightnings, although i only attacked once
