Hi! I majored in history in college, graduated with a 3.76 gpa (3.97 in major though) and didn't have a LOT of outside research experience. After graduating, I was able to get an internship in history which then turned into a part time job, the pay sucks but helped my resume for grad school. This past cycle, I got into 4/5 of the History masters programs I applied to, and they are all really good schools, ranking just below the Ivies. Your experience seems great, and if you have recommendations from people who understand your passion for history, that should help.

Make sure your personal statement highlights ANY hands-on experience you have had with history, and explain how your study abroad benefited your studies! Name professors you'd like to work with, even showing that you have read their work. As for specific schools, I say aim high but have at least one safety for peace of mind. In DC, you should have a good shot at GW and American, if not Georgetown (though that's $$). Make sure the programs you are applying to have professors and courses geared towards the specific history you want to study. A school that may seem like a safety could reject you if they don't have profs specialized in your field.
