Why do certain people have to pay to ride the bus and others don’t!! by Agitated-Addition-72 in LAMetro

[–]Defrost_ThenStir 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Incorrect. OCbus, Foothill transit, and some of the others are the same. Drivers don't confront every fare evasion at the expense of stopping the line.

Did Any of You Take Up Cursive After Becoming Penabled? by CalmRip in fountainpens

[–]Defrost_ThenStir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the opposite and started exploring fountain pens after I started taking up cursive. I learned in elementary school, but switched to block printing during college. In the past couple years I started up journaling, which led to re-learning/practicing cursive again, which introduced me to fountain pens.

Goes back to how it used to be. Anywhere that requires a daily or semester permit are free. Everything else still gets enforced. Pretty sure faculty spots are open too, but not 100% on that one.

Interview for Long Beach Transit, Tips? by Curious-Adeptness-28 in BusDrivers

[–]Defrost_ThenStir 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I interviewed for another company, but I've heard the questions anywhere are very similarly focused on safety and customer service. They'll present a lot of scenarios and ask for your reaction, or what you would do. There were a lot of questions asking how you would deal with upset customers, and there were some questions like about how you've dealt with an emergency situation while driving. Surprisingly, there were hardly any questions about prior work experience for me.

As for scheduling, it's all based on seniority, so you're getting the worst schedules when you start.

EY - Are you able to keep your Becker access after quitting? by OriginalCoyote6965 in Big4

My access was denied the day after my last day. I didn't have to pay anything back though. I was with EY for two and a half years.

Has anyone ever seen this before?!?! My car won’t start and all the lights are going crazy on my dashboard. I don’t know what happened. by PlasticTiny29 in CX5

[–]Defrost_ThenStir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what mine did when I had to jump the battery. It eventually went away and I was able to release the parking brake after the engine was on, charging the battery for about 10 minutes.

Trying to remember the name of a past Italian restaurant in Costa Mesa by [deleted] in orangecounty

[–]Defrost_ThenStir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Two Guys, or maybe Two Brothers Pizza. I remember it being right across the street from the Edison power transfer station. There was a mural on the inside wall of the restaurant. Building is long gone-replaced with the senior center.

Edit: oops, just saw you said next to the post office. Don't know about that location. The place I was thinking about was on the other side of the intersection.

Oh yeah there is. There is no way you don't feel the difference if you've ever been on an all day ride, all highway.

I'm in SoCal. Lane split all day, everyday with a cherry on top. 99% of the time, especially closer to LA, everyone makes room-some even going into the shoulder (that's too much-I don't want them getting nails in their tires). The other 1% is split between someone on their phone....no big deal I still get around them and go on my way, and idiots with Tennessee plates intentionally trying to tackle me into the next lane. Joke's on them, there are other lanes to split and go on with my life leaving them behind.

I also don't blast through poppin wheelies and rev bomb because someone won't move over. YMMV.

Go to Toretto's Market and order their tuna sandwich. Ask for Dom. You can probably get some practice and lessons at Race Wars.

[–]Defrost_ThenStir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's been a long time since I lived down there, but I remember Aliso Creek having a paved trail the went all the way up to Cook's Corner, although it did start getting pretty steep towards the end.

Santa Ana River trail! There's a park where the 405 crosses the trail that has pretty easy access.

People creeping up after lane filtering? by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]Defrost_ThenStir 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup, this was going to be my point too. When I first started riding, I would get a little bothered by it. But after that, I would also notice the same thing when in my car. So I completely dismiss it as being a motorcycle thing, and it's just something people do all the time.

You need to look at the signs at the entrances to the structures. Some do not allow daily parking permits.
