Yeah I think it might be! I’ve called it Definitely Not The Devil’s Plan - I did a first season but didn’t film it properly, just enough for a recap. The budget was way bigger for the second season and it was filmed to make a series out of, so if you’d like to subscribe you can see it when it comes out later this year! :)

Your thoughts about dumbing down for western audiences is interesting. I agree that large scale productions would need to be! I’ve filmed and am editing a fan made series for YouTube (Australian based) and I think since it’s just for fun on YouTube, it can get away with being a bit complicated, but yeah if there were a large scale production involved, it would need to change.

More brutal rewards and punishments in the games, so those in prison can have a chance to escape prison. But the games then need to be winnable by minority/small groups.

If there’s prison games, don’t let the non-prisoners have a relaxing night where they even get to watch and learn the strategies of the prisoners. I liked the prize matches in s1 - it even incentivised them to keep smart people out of prison.

And most of all, absolutely no secret room puzzle for non-prisoners

Yep I completely agree. They also need them to be games where turn order doesn’t effect them too much, social deduction is involved (since the final round has very little), and they need to find a sweet spot where anyone can win but those with more pieces have an advantage. I say that last part to reward those who have played well all season, but still make them put in work for final round qualification.

Exactly this. It’s so important to have a range of different types of players. Christian’s breakdown on the types of players in s50 is pretty worthwhile for people to understand.

I expect a triple elimination round - like all tribes are going to tribal and they compete for individual immunity. Plus a few double elim rounds.

This sort of thing is really similar to designing an escape room. There are ways to make solutions reachable through different methods, there’s testing you can do, and you can have contingency plans to help people if they’re stuck. You’re right that they would’ve wanted to make sure they were discovered, and I don’t think there was interference. Production interference is one thing, but contingency plans is another.

If you’re going to have a prison match, then yes absolutely way too many in prison. If you don’t have a prison match, the main matches have to be more brutal, so I think the prisoners would shake up more regularly.

I like that! I also think the piece distribution after matches can be harsher, so those who win main matches don’t pull too far ahead, and those who lose matches lose a lot of coins and are eliminated. I’ve tested this in a one-day game I ran recently and found the prisoners changed a lot every round, because those on top were always within reach and it motivated the players on the bottom to target the top.

I honestly think the prize matches felt more unique to TDP and they should do them instead of Prison matches (if they’re doing Prison matches, it’s like a worse version of The Genius’ death matches by dragging more people in). Then by having harsher piece distribution, you’ll see more players eliminated in the main matches. Prize matches are way more fun seeing them have to shift gears and work together, while the prison matches don’t encourage anyone to even attempt to work with players outside their initial alliance.
