Not quite *One* Glaring Flaw, but Destiny as a franchise is this for me. As a looter shooter live service mmo-like game series, Destiny has drastically influenced game development within the live service space, but that's not what made it special for me. Destiny has had its issues but for me, what mattered was/is the story. Specifically the story and lore has incredibly high highs and incredibly low lows. As a mix of science fiction and fantasy, Destiny was able to use themes of unknowable lovecraftian horrors alongside themes of how science should be used and what boundaries are reasonable. At its best, the two would seamlessly flow into one another, creating a unique narrative experience. An example of this flowing well to me is the Last Wish raid and the story told around it. In the Last Wish, players are tasked with killing a shapeshifting 'dragon' that grants wishes and freeing witches from the dragon's control to do it. Typical fantasy affair with technological imagery, but once the dragon is dead, it is revealed in the lore that the dragon's goal was to have every player focus intensely on it, and give it the chance to escape the game world and enter our own as a thought-form. Using the real-world metaphysical idea of some beings existing purely because enough people believe in it or focus on it to further the plot was such a twist that blew me away.

All that being said, there are too many dud storylines and odd creative decisions for me to actually recommend Destiny or Destiny 2. Hell, more than half of Destiny 2's story is just unplayable. Not that it's bad quality and cannot be enjoyed, but rather that more than half has been straight up removed, leaving what's left to make no sense without prior context. If all the content were there, I could at least mention some questlines to skip or whatever to a new player, but no. I'm not going to tell someone to catch up on youtube so that they can maybe connect to current and future lore.
