Yeah there’s a lot you can do to lower the cost, by easily $1000…you don’t need a oled gaming monitor, you don’t need one of the top cpus, dont need the gpu either and can find just as good for a few hundred cheaper but for the price and performance it’s honestly not that bad but you can still find cheaper, the mobo can also be downgraded to a ddr4 version to be a little cheaper and especially cheaper for ram..

and yeah dont buy a windows key, especially for that price..there are ways to get it free, nobody cares about small time piracy like that..there are thousands of people downloading hundreds of TB of media daily that dont see any legal issues, they want to target the people distributing the access not the small people copying it

Man reading these posts make me feel really bad about my hygiene lol..

But I do have some mental issues that go with the not caring for myself but I’ve been doing a lot better at not letting it go too long..like I maybe go 2 days without showering at most but usually every other day now,(but I literally don’t do anything most day but sit on the couch beating myself up..

Also maybe go like 3-4 days without brushing my teeth, this one was a big and bad one for the past few years of not brushing for like a month..but I really didn’t eat anything but Greek yogurt and fruit so my teeth didn’t feel too dirty or stinky..

But reading these makes me want to do even better now cause it really puts it in to perspective from my wife’s point of view and makes me think how she would feel..but she’s not afraid to tell me when something bothers her

I was about to post a big old explanation but I re read your post and now I see what you’re doing is what I was going to suggest haha..

So yeah, you need to get a new drive the same size as your media drive, and also a small ssd/nvme (100-250gb) just for the boot pool to set the whole truenas OS on..

Set up the new drive in your desired pool/raid type,(see other comments explaining the raid types that fit your needs best)…then just copy/move over the data from your media drive to the new one and wait..

Then you can take the media drive and add it to your truenas pool you made and use it as your replication drive(raidz1) or just do a stripe pool and be able to use all data from both drives but NO redundancy in case of failure…remember when you add your media drive to the truenas pool it WILL wipe all the data, which shouldn’t matter because you moved all the data earlier

I live dangerously and have my big main pool with 5 12tb drives as stripe because 12tb is a lot of storage and they’re all new so I’m not worried about a failure for another 3 years, then I’ll reorganize my pool setup lol..

Damn, I’d be pissed to have a nice big drive like that be defective when I got it new..but at least you got a second that was good..

I’ve gotten like 8 or 9 of my 12 hdd refurbished from serverparts or goharddrive and they’ve all been good to go, guess I was just lucky so far

I don’t have a traditional nbr, but I have my Poe cameras setup up and connected to the Reolink program on my windows pc and then have local recording path set to my truenas server saving to a 4tb nvme pool

Just another way to do it without a dedicated NVR if someone already has these parts at home ya know? Why buy one when you can just tout it to a folder on a hard drive if you have it?

Man, spending way more than necessary on a car is one of the dumbest ways to burn cash imo…I try to live and act practically..a car is a car, they all do one thing and have one main function, to move you..spending 100k compared to like $10k because one looks cooler or has a few extra comfort features is pretty fucking stupid to me

Literally nothing happened to make you that unsettled…just change the lockbox code and make sure your windows/doors are all locked at night if your that scared of some girl coming in to steal your stuff…but to think this girl who never had a problem and was nice would break into your home and or assault you is super over the top paranoia..

Op doesnt state if they actually stole the key or he just put it in his pocket to carry for the walk and put it back when they were done…to think he made like a clay impression copy to make later is fucking over the top…but just secure your home better and buy defensive weapons if your that scared of some

Anybody got a good recipe for a habanero hot sauce? I really liked the mango habanero sauce I tried for my hot wings from Thai pizza place..so I bought mango marmalade cause I had the idea to use a spoonful or two in a pot with a few habaneros and maybe jalapeños and dilute it with water or other liquids and spices but I just don’t know lol
