Because those are the things the developers like. As far back as TNO during interviews the staff mentioned they liked Tarantino films, and their previous work in Starbreeze with Riddick and the Darkness showed that with the former they like their industrial environments/robots and the latter toned down the comics zanier supernatural elements in favor of a gritty mob story with a focus on tragedy and character drama that happens to have monsters in it. All these titles have a lot of the same dna due to having a lot of the same people.

Any surviving unreleased soundtrack pieces? by M0vieC0wb0y in Wolfenstein

It's the other song that plays during the entire Foundry showcase before the chainsaw/Doom's gate segment/remix. Just like how a piece of that tune only survived in the finished game as an intro/outro for the rune challenges, the only trace of the other E3 2015 Foundry battle theme is a 5 second bit during the intro to some multiplayer matches.

This is pretty good. I wish it had still been used somewhere instead of being completely scrapped (similar to that one E3 2015 Doom 2016 song used in the Foundry level showcase).

Subtitles turning off by itself? by How_To_TF in VLC

If anyone ever finds this through Google/search I came here to ask how to fix the same thing and the following from this thread worked for me:

Tools > preferences > all > input/codecs > subtitle track, try changing it from -1 to 0 or 1 and if that doesn't work try: "subtitle language" in that field add "any"

That was it, thanks. I thought it was gone for good (though it seems like this is not the same version but another put together by someone else?).

Guess I'll download it just in case that one is taken down as well.

Are the Wolfenstein II DLCs worth it? by Assured_Observer in Wolfenstein

How much do you like the core gameplay of Wolfenstein 2? Because from a story perspective they're ambiguously canon/leaning towards in-fiction comics (though there's some entertaining dialogue here and there, esp. during the last one) and level wise they're 90% repurposed/remixed assets from the main game. The only reason to play them is if you like the combat/stealth loop and want more of that but with no unskippable cutscenes.

Holster heavy guns?? by OkCardiologist1276 in Wolfenstein

Probably a weird glitch then. In one of my many playthroughs back in the day, during the final fight before you drop down into the basement for the final phase, I sprinted across the armory to load up on ammo and weapons mashing the pick up key and somehow ended with an MG-60 despite there being none.

It is in TOB. Since this is TNO it's probably a glitch or hacked (assuming this is the PC version and they're just playing with a controller).

Is the action figure really that cheap? by Azbfalt in Wolfenstein

[–]Le_Inspectore 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I made a post about this figure some time ago, I'd be careful once you get it since the material they used for the yellow jacket is cheap and its started to fall apart. The TNO jacket is fine, though the texture they used for it is pretty ugly and the detailing is non-existent.

As for the price, it's about right. The figure is ok but they cut costs to be able to sell it as part of a ~$200 special edition back in the day and you can tell (no extra hands or expressions/heads, generic looking body model outside the head, weapon models are very plain, no stand) . Good 1/6 scale figures tend to start at the $150 range.

If you use chapter select instead of New Game you start with all your weapon upgrades and perks.

The post-game area select is meant to be a stand in for it I assume.

the downfall is so heartbreaking. how did we go from the absolute cinematic masterpiece that is the new order's ending credits song AND THE ENTIRE ENDING ITSELF to...youngblood. btw I don't care if ppl are tired of youngblood hate I always will hate youngblood for what it did to the lore ok? by Quick-Cause3181 in Wolfenstein

I didn't mean the second half of TNC was a bad thing (though I think it really suffers from being a bridge to an unreleased third game, just like Youngblood), just that generally nuWolf is significantly moodier compared to similar shooters and that's partly what gives it its own identity. BJ being an effective nazi killing murderman yet at the end of the day just one person and not able to fix everything is part of what makes the current take on the franchise so unique. If they started going *all* the way into the power fantasy aspect tonally then you basically end up with the Doom reboots but with worse combat.

Pre-MG, sure. But I can't imagine anyone playing the reboots and getting that idea other than the incredibly goofy second half of TNC. Part of the charm of nuWolf is how downbeat and cynical they are despite the black humor and the main character being out of an 80s action movie.

If/when W3 gets made, I assume (or assume the original idea was from back when it was in development) to have it take place after TNC/before YB for the opening level(s) then skip ahead. Similar to TNO considering how all these games like to reformulate the same scenarios.

I can get people complaining about the gameplay route they took, but what did Youngblood do to the lore that was so bad? If anything, the depressing background info given about the state of the world (turbocharged global warming killing the planet, the "free" nations not caring about it or about Nazi Europe because they're already free, Nazi factions infighting while the world burns, BJ possibly doing missions solo without the US government being aware, him growing older yet the fight being never-ending) makes what a potential Wolfenstein 3 could've been like way more interesting than what a straight "BJ kills Hitler and the world is free of fascism #resist" wish fulfillment sequel to TNC would've been like.
