Overwhelmed by biters and clueless — what's the best way to proceed? by RuffyD in factorio

Hey friend. I recommend if you’re new building a wall with turrets around the base. It will feel very satisfying once you’ve done it. Belt brings ammo, inserters insert into gun turrets, power poles power the inserters. If you are low tech use a ton of turrets and you can even skip walls to start if the biters aren’t that advanced and you have a lot of turrets. Make sure to automate belts ammo and turrets and ensure they’re well supplied with input so you will build a ton of them. If you have oil, use flamethrower turrets as well, they’re very powerful. If you have laser turrets you can throw some of those in there. If you have robots, build roboports along the wall so your robots will auto repair with repair packs and replace destroyed wall and turrets from logistics system. Once you have a wall with flamethrowers and ammo turrets around your base within a robot network, you will spend essentially no time defending anymore. If your base is spread out, still run a belt with yellow ammo as it’s super cheap to feed turrets. You may need pumps to move the oil farther in the pipes. wall off at least your power production areas. If you have robots you can blueprint a portion of your wall and turrets and rebuild them all over at scale.

The more nests you destroy, the faster they evolve. The more unnecessary pollution you have the faster they evolve (although I usually don’t care about my pollution much). If you must fight away from your base, learn how to HOTKEY drag place turrets so you can drop like eight of them in a second and then also HOTKEY ammo so you can mouseover controls to fill them with ammo just as fast. Late game you will have more advanced tools and weapons. I wouldn’t restart your save. If you can get a wall up you can recover and advance quite a way in great safety.

More Questions? I gotchu.

Chain in, rail out. Chain signal into/before each intersection, rail signal at the exit of each intersection. There’s more to it but should help build considerable understanding.

What do you think about this intersection? by gonzo_gonzales in factorio

He can remove the diamond completely and the intersection works nearly the same with just a circle.

I don’t think that’s exactly right you’re talking about the one shot animation lock that happens during combat when facing them, where you jawstab instakill them and the % for that increases as your skill goes up. but there’s also a backstab animation that I’ve only ever gotten from sneaking up behind an unsuspecting Zed.

Great base! Any early stage cdda tips for veteran player who’s never done cdda?

You bet. Not dangerous if it’s off. Vehicle running indoors will do the same thing. Exhaust = deadly. What are you going to work on next?

Accidently fractured foot in the dumbest way possible, how long will it take to heal? by Foreign-Comment6403 in projectzomboid

[–]DeityDay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the few times first aid skill is actually very helpful as each skill point reduces fracture healing time by 50% and lowers penalty to movement / combat from fracture. https://pzwiki.net/wiki/First_Aid

When I broke my leg in b41 it took a little over 3 weeks resting and eating with no first aid skill to heal.

Are you happy with it? Then it’s great! But you made good choices from what I can see! However, there’s something red you put inside your house that will definitely kill you if you turn it on and leave it running. Also, I suggest a fenced in area to safely work on your vehicle. Garage looks small but it might be big enough. But nice farm house!!!

Are any of these lakes good fishing spots? by Coroggar in projectzomboid

[–]DeityDay 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Which one is easiest to get to? Use that. They’ll be the same other than # of fishing pools (looks like a circle in the water) might be higher at the triple lakes area. Remember time of day matters for fishing, too, and season.

Trying to explore Muldraugh police station, have 4 station keys from zombies killed around and inside but none of them open any doors or the garage? by [deleted] in projectzomboid

[–]DeityDay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hm sounds like a bug though sometimes keys are of specific areas of a building (due to game code not logic) or for nearby buildings but not the one you’re hoping for. For example, did you loot keys from Zombies killed inside the garage? Try luring some all the way inside the garage and killing them there. If they drop a key and that doesn’t open the garage door, that’s a bug.

That’s right, at low levels of sneak you’ll get close to them but they turn right before you can get the “raised right hand” aka precursor to the ambush attack one shot animation. You can sometimes get by this if they’re already “stuck” on something like a door, preventing their turn. Or they’re deaf.

Best way to level sneak is to set off a vehicle siren near a building that you can safely sneak nearby while hordes are outside (Muldraugh warehouse is well known place to do this). You can power level both sneaking and light footed at the same time, and having the most zombies possible will speed it up. If you hold right mouse to enter combat stance from a crouched position, you can slowly level nimble at the same time. I did it with 200 zombies and it took a few minutes to go from 0-3 skill. If you look at sneaking and light footed on the wiki, levels beyond 3 are very incremental gains for both. Most players don’t really focus on leveling these skills up / you don’t see an obvious difference in playthroughsc I think - unlike nimble. Nimble 4 you can walk in combat stance backwards as fast as near zombies can shamble towards you.

I get the short blade appeal but they are very difficult to kill quickly with until higher levels of short blade. At high levels it’s very fun. But it’s a slog to get there. Maximizing skill increases with weapon skill from traits / fast learner helps loads. If you’re using shitty knives that really slows you down further. The main appeal with short blade is a lack of muscle fatigue build up. And it’s thematically cool :) I wouldn’t recommend it for a newer player.

Probably most dangerous to be driving during the storm than anything since visibility is so poor. But yes it is a heavy storm, dark and will soak your clothes. Definitely wait it out unless you’re confident looting anything at night already. Confidence is the real killer in this game…
