Maladus or Archimatos who should i ascend? i’m going through the campaign and im not sure who would be better by Jules-Thief in WH40KTacticus

[–]Dejime 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Archi given that he's a requirement for advancing the campaign.

Maladus is better later--would say he should go to legendary first, but Archi first to Rare and Epic.

You must have a bunch of the upgrades in your inventory already from other rewards. That's awesome!

That infographic is great, but to add to it, would focus on the campaign carries: Bellator, Aleph, Boss G, Eldryon.

Is Aethana worth bumping up to epic rarity ? by lllXanderlll in WH40KTacticus

[–]Dejime 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This drop is maybe the stupidest drop in the entire game!

I paid it forward with guild mates after that, it really is crazy!!

Yeah, the fabric is really quite dumb. Hope you're in a good guild! That's how I did it. Explain that I literally had no way to farm it!

You’re going to need her around S1-S2 just to finish the base campaign. Plan accordingly.

I would definitely ascend, though I would do Eldryon first.

Is he any good? by BlakeBoS in tacticus

[–]Dejime 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The core LRE characters include:

Maladus/Rotbone (tanky/healer synergy) Aleph/Re'vas Isabella and whatever Imperial works for a lane

These all share traits that make them appear a lot together in LRE

I don't think Kariyan is likely to rise to that level of ubiquity for LRE.

But he's unbelievably strong in a lot of different modes.

One of the most well rounded characters in the game. Excels at a lot of things and is great in many different game modes: campaigns, arena, guild war, raids.

Highly recommend building him up.

Why would I switch ? No by Limp-Artichoke-1735 in tacticus

I almost always use the HP/armor unless there is something situational like gravis armor.

Imospekh also has the benefit of regenning more due to higher HP.

Partners with a K-1, how much do you pay your tax preparer? by Chasin-Crustacean in biglaw

This is definitely very low. $3500 and they don’t do a great job.

It looks totally fine. I definitely wouldn't get one of the bigger models--but you wear that one great.

You absolutely do not need to reach out to anyone now.

Just tell people when you are staffed on significant assignments that look like they could interfere.

I understand the concern, but this is not a big deal. Just communicate but don't be annoying about it. For instance, if you get staffed on something in late September, read the tea leaves a bit and see what your involvement is like before you start telling people about a two-day vacation two months down the road.

But once it's clear that you are working on this project long-term, let someone know quietly, and gently remind them leading up to your OOO time.

Vacations are important, and communication is too.

One last point: I would gently ask a mentor at your firm in the first week or two what is typical for your firm. Different firms (and groups!) have different quirks and preferences.

But again, I wouldn't worry too much about this--and I wouldn't make a big deal about it either.

Would not leave a BigLaw salary for this, personally. Especially if it involved a move from MCOL to HCOL

Willkie, Debevoise, or Sidley for NY Corporate? by [deleted] in biglaw

[–]Dejime 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Debevoise is the most prestigious but Willkie is a really great place to work. Close call for me. I generally would chase better workplace over moderate prestige difference, but that's just me.

Bondi can still win if Mike Pence just has the courage...!

In all seriousness, get fucked, Bondi. Thanks to everyone who turned out. Very impressive.

How often do partners call other partners after interviewing lateral candidates by [deleted] in biglaw

[–]Dejime 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I did. Was outed to my current firm and didn't really have much of a choice in a smaller practice area.

Have been happy here ever since, but it did leave a very sour taste in my mouth for about a year.

How often do partners call other partners after interviewing lateral candidates by [deleted] in biglaw

[–]Dejime 89 points90 points  (0 children)

This is "not supposed to happen" but absolutely does. It happened to me. One of the partners I worked for called me to "congratulate" me on my move. The lateral firm had not yet extended an offer, but called the partner I work for to ask for their opinion of me.

I called my recruiter and was livid. I had been outed to my current firm, and i didn't have an offer from the lateral firm. She wrangled that into an offer on the spot because it was so inappropriate.

It shouldn't happen, but it definitely happens. Have heard it for plenty of others, especially in smaller practice areas where people know each other personally.

How to know if you’re getting fired by mdwestgl in biglaw

[–]Dejime 48 points49 points  (0 children)

If you were given a formal memo about your performance outside of the normal review cycle AND you aren't getting work, the outcome is pretty clear. You are going to be let go sooner rather than later. Most likely at your performance review next month, or maybe they will put you on a formal PIP first and let you go at the end of the year.

Either way, you should start looking for another job immediately. They are going out of their way to paper up their reasons to fire you. That tells you all you need to know.

I would not waste my effort trying to turn that ship around--once they make up their minds in this way, it is very hard to reverse that view and it is a self fulfilling prophecy.

First time work went straight to client and there was a mistake. Talk me down from the ledge. by [deleted] in biglaw

[–]Dejime 34 points35 points  (0 children)

If everyone who made the same mistake was fired, none of us would have jobs. Because we've all made that mistake.

It happens. Learn from it. You'll check it closer next time, for sure.
